I have a ton of people in my external trade custom union so I have a ton of influence usage with pacts that sill contain trade privileges and investment rights. Does anyone know if they have any purpose or I should remove them, like do I still have investment rights as its in the country's in my custom union, does trade privileges even do anything?

Personally, I kicked out most countries from my customs union in my trade bloc, specially china and india.
As you said, we can have trade treaties with them instead, to import/export the same things we were giving them "for free", and profit a LOT more from the trade centers instead, if advantage is high enough we might even end up with more of the goods we need.
I'm not sure I can see a reason to ever pick trade leagues again, market unification lvl 1 might be better than the bloc type itself

Customs unions don’t grant investment rights. Overlords can invest in subjects, but investing in non-subject members of a customs union requires the Foreign Investment III principle.
Man custom union and trade leagues are pretty awful and not satisfying at all and super annoying when people just randomly leave but what really bad is freedom of movement I think it doesn't even worka right anymore despite so many members not one sends any pops to me which I have no idea what the hold up is.
