After the success of the more Determined AI Modification of Japan I'm proud to present the next release :

DAIM Italy

This mod was done in the same way than the last one by strictly AI file optimizing.
Italy should be more offensive and agressive ( war against greece , more units as examples)

Install instructions
  • First download and unzip the DAIM Framework into your main HOI Folder.
  • Then download and unzip DAIM Italy into your main HOI Folder
  • you'll have to confirm overwriting a few files
  • you can use any of the DAIM sets (like Germany or Russia) on top of the framework if you like
Thats all

  • If you want to use all DAIM AIs ( Germany , Japan , Italy, China,USA, Russia and the Commonwealth)
    then you can download the DAIM Bigpack Compilation instead and unzip it into your main HOI Folder
Restore
  • If you want the original files back then download the Backup

Excellent. I no longer have to wait until 1943 for Italy to join me in the war. They seem to advance rapidly in the start in North Africa, but the British have pushed them back right when the Italians were at El Alamein, and now it's at a stand-still.

Nice to hear.

But I have forgotten to mention that I added a defence AI for Italy . So when Italy looses to much in North Africa, they will start to guard their beaches very well

I've made some tweaks to DAIM Italy to get more balanced behavior.
If you want to use the improvements , you may download the DAIM Italy or the Bigpack which includes also the new nations

AFAIK it's not an AI file issue, I think the problem is that there are enemy ships in the Suez channel which block movement. Nothing in the standard AI files or the DAIM files prevent Italy from crossing this channel.

Its no more fun than watching Japan get pounded out of existence in the first four months of war vs. USA. I think DIAM over proudces American fleet at expense of land forces, not terribly so, but it make it tough for the AI USA to do much against the land forces Japan has. I haven't seen it through yet, so maybe this changes later in the war, but it seems that America's ~280 ship navy with an army ~50 div in early 1941 is a bit lop-sided.

Are you sure you installed DAIM correctly? The US numbers you're mentioning sound much like vanilla HoI, they should be significantly different with DAIM.

This coming from a member of the ahistorical society? :) DAIM is really more about just trying to beef up countries, it isn't an attempt to be a historical mod. In other words, trying to make it play (build orders and the like) more like a human would play to win rather than what they did historically.
 
Im my 3 tries at DAIM as far as I recall I remember seing the US having about 140+ divs by 39...with most of them being inf...

True, the irony. Well I admit I am hypocritical when it comes to that, if it´s historical and plays into the UKs hands I´m pro-historical. And if I don´t like it suddenly I´m ahistorical. :p



EDIT- But wouldn´t that be fairly good and challenging? Weak Italy that cranks out numbers of air and infantry if you take too long, say early/mid 42?
 
@ArcticFox: My head is turning, don't do that again! :D

@boehm: That's how it should be with current DAIM, perhaps a bit exaggerated, but the US forces will have a better backbone on the land. The AI needs lots of land units to put its force into action.

Ahh, ok so this explain's why they didn't try to retake their posessions in North Africa and they have not replaced their lost transports (they have 0).

I'm playing National Spain and have taken it upon myself to capture Gibralter and Suez to help out my Italian Allies, but they have not taken it upon themselves to try and re-invade North Africa.

I take it even if I sent them a fleet of transports, they would just scratch their heads? ;)
 
Minor update

In the current version of the Bigpack, DAIM Italy has recieved a small update: The conditions for attacking Greece have been changed to prevent an isolated war of Italy against the Allies.
