I've noticed a trend, both in my games and others reported in this subforum, of Davos Seaworth actually turning on Stannis along with all other vassals during some megawars (especially against Robb). While this is perhaps unavoidable, it got me thinking. Might it be possible to grant an eternal Loyalty or Gratitude relationship modifier (not a trait as modifiers seem like they may be more flexible) for Davis and other people in his circumstances? i.e. Lowborn/previous unlanded people who are granted a land title for the first time getting an opinion bonus towards whoever first elevated them like that. Maybe it only works if they are Honourable.

Barring that, maybe just give Davos/the Seaworths a bonus to his/their opinion of Stannis/Baratheons, similar to the way the Manderleys are grateful to the Starks.

I'd limit this to Davos (who seems to have an unusual level of dedication). Bronn doesn't seem to have much personal loyalty to the Lannisters for giving him a castle, for example.

But yes, Davos should get an opinion modifier towards Stannis (and maybe towards Shireen as well), just to avoid his otherwise sudden but inevitable betrayal.

maybe making davos and stannis friends will make this go away?

also I found it weird that there is no loyal trait in the game (as opposed to ambitious, but not quite the same as content)

The problem with a Loyal trait is that it would presumably make you loyal to whoever is in charge now, which is... not very loyal if your previous liege's worst enemy takes over.

And I think limiting it to Honourable people (Davos is Honourable, right? He really should be...) would avoid the Bronn issues.

Jorah Mormont has the devoted modifier towards Danyeris. I think it's fair enough to give Davos the same modifier towards Stannis. At one point when talking to his son about God he tells him that "Stannis is my god" so I think that justifies the same devotion that Jorah has. Friends might be ok. But is Stannis as loyal to Davos as vica versa?

To be fair, Stannis does forgive him some pretty major transgressions, which he likely wouldn't have forgiven if it were anyone else. I wouldn't call it a friendship, but Davos is probably as close to a friend as Stannis could possibly have, given his character and status (mostly his character and the way he approaches his status because of it). So Friend may not be a bad solution either, I suppose.

Still, I wasn't aware of Jorah's modifier. I guess Davos getting the same is just about fair.

Ignore what I said before about a "devoted" modifier Jorah doesn't have one to Dany. Instead he does have one called "deeply in love" which is a +70 opinion modifier, but he's not her lover (obviously).

I don't see any problem with giving Davos a "deeply in love" modifier to Stannis.

Different sort of love, but still seems pretty damn close to love to me, yeah.

Pretty certain it's a custom modifier they've added so I'm sure it would be no problem to call it whatever they wanted. The other problem with making them friends is that random events can remove that friendship.
