I'm reading DD ARM v1.2 HYQK. I have the store bought retail (Anthology) version. Did I patch correctly?

According to my Arma install (which is not Anthology btw)

Hearts of Iron 2, Armageddon (HOI2:ARMA): Update 1.2 (March, 2008) Checksum: VBLV

As coreymas says the checksum should be VBLV.

When the patch first came out(which is the last time I used it)there was a problem with the install path for the Arma version of the patch.

You have to make sure the patch goes to your Arma folder, which with the Anthology version won't be Paradox Interactive\Doomsday\Armageddon

it will be Paradox Interactive\Armageddon because Arma is a stand alone game in the Anthology, but an expansion to Doomsday otherwise.

Well, I wish I could get some more information on this. I checked and doubled checked the install path and just did it again and this time my check sum is TZRW. I don't even know what check sum means. I just want to play the friggin game with whatever latest patcg is available. This is really frustrating

The only real purpose of the checksum is multi-player, to make sure that everyone has the exact same version of the game.

So you have the Anthology. You installed Armageddon, which is a stand alone game in the Anthology, to which folder?

You have to make sure that the patch goes to that same folder.

Thanks for checking back, sbr. Folder is my C drive (only drive), and the folders as follows: program files, paradox interactive, Armageddon. I deleted all the old stuff when I got Anthology, loaded from scratch, and am using the self extractor patch labeled "HoI2DDArmageddonPatch1_2". I got the link from a post that said this was the patch for the retail version. Any idea why I can't get the right check sum?

Are you using Vista?

If so.....

Uninstall everything

Turn off UAC

Install Arma via the setup program in the Arma folder on the CD

Do not install the game in the default path... install it somewhere like... c:\games\arma

Patch using the patch you found make sure the patch sees the game in the new folder above.

nope, Windows XP but thanks for trying to help :)
With the Anthology the unpatched version of Armegeddon should be checksum GKCW(I uninstalled and reinstalled the game to find this. There is a chance I have a serious problem. :eek:o )

Have you changed or modded ANYTHING in your game files? That will change your checksum. I changed the cost of 1918 Infantry(in Arma\db\units\divisions\Infantry) from 7 IC to 6 IC and the checksum went from VBLV to UBLV.

Why do you have a problem? Why are you checking the unpatched version of Anthology? Now I am confused. Anyway, I found those notes on deleting the registry keys when uninstalling so I did that and manually deleted the old folders and have created a games folder so I am now going to do a COMPLETELY new install and patch to 1.2a and see what I get... ILL BE BACK!

I meant that I have a problem because I uninstalled my game and reinstalled it to find the checksum of the unpatched Anthology Armageddon game.
