The Waiting Game

III, Conclusion.

This is my spymaster, Ela.

eladefalt.jpg

Ela, you did such a good job murdering Otto van Oranje-Nassau that I'd marry you if I could.

Too bad I've already got a wife.

wifedied.jpg

Oh! My wife's dead! How convenient.

Ela, I am going to marry you.

elaproposal.jpg

You may be beyond child-bearing years, but you don't look like you've aged a day past 16.

In fact, none of us look like we've aged past 16.

intrigueagain.jpg

I realize I'm being slightly hypocritical here, but I have to act in the interest of my prestige.

bideourtime.jpg

Yes, together, we shall bide our time...until I'm crowned king.

Ah! The English declared war on the old ruling family!

englandvsangevin.jpg

Splendid. That could serve as an excellent distraction when the time comes to take back the kingdom.

iagodied.jpg

Even better! The time to take back England is getting much, much closer.

One of my new vassals is quite the rebel.

richardcsaky.jpg

Now, Richard, I can't have rebellious vassals in my kingdom.

Why don't you just hand over your titles to me?

revokedeheubarth.jpg

Doesn't that sound like a good idea?

acceptance.jpg

You agree! Splendid!

And I have a new council as well.

newcouncil2.jpg

Madog ap Cydifor? Edward ap Madog?

Two madogs?

I have two mad dogs on my council.

This could get hairy.

Now that Duke John the Bigot is King John the Bigot, how long can it possibly be until the War of Reunification with England? Find out how long I can dodge the question in the next chapter of John de Bigod's life, Tying Up Some Loose Ends!

Marrying someone who is 38?
This is madnes!

Yeah, I thought about having John mention that, but decided against it. I'm not interested in children at this point in the game because John's already got a son. John married Ela for role-playing reasons only, i.e. she's lustful and I was so happy that she killed Otto van Oranje-Nassau on the first try that I literally said "Ela, I wish I could marry you." It was a stroke of luck that John's wife died soon thereafter. :)

When I play ck, when the wife turns 40, she accidentally 'dies'. :p
And then I get a new 16 year old wife. :D

That's certainly one way to play. :D

Whoops, sorry I'm late.

kalenderee: Is John de Bigod supposed to kick Enewald into a pit now? :p

Enewald: Indeed. :)

Update in a few minutes...

Getting Closer.

Tying Up Some Loose Ends

I

Oliva King of Leon wants to be my ally.

allianceprop.jpg

I agreed, after I determined that he wasn't the usual type of Iberian king.

You know, the ones that have nothing but a county left and the rest belongs to the Muslims.

I'm taking everybody's titles.

revokeglamorgan.jpg

I like a tidy realm.

revokeperfed.jpg

Anna agrees that the kingdom could use a little cleaning up.

perfedagreement.jpg

And so does that Csaky guy! Splendid.

glamorganagreement.jpg

I wonder if...Ualgarg...agrees.

revoketireoghain.jpg

Ualgarg? Seriously? Was his dad gargling when the priest asked "What shall this child be named?"

Oh, it looks like I made him mad and now I've got to take his title by force.

wardeclaration.jpg

However you want to do this is fine with me, Count Gargle.

The nobles in Perfeddwlad tell me that they feel slighted.

noblesslighted.jpg

I told them that I would consider it.

Not that I had any choice.

perfedpowerbreakdown.jpg

Upon further review, it appear they have every right to feel slighted.

I guess ex-Countess Anna didn't like nobles.

Oh for Heaven's sake!

isabellaleaves.jpg

I thought we were done with all that "I'm leaving unless you give me money...oh, you gave me money...well, I'm still leaving!" business, courtiers.

I guess not.

Now I can see why ex-Countess Anna didn't like nobles.

Ungrateful bastards.

Will John take back Count Gargle's lands by force or will other random events interrupt his war? You better hope another courtier doesn't leave; he might kill somebody! Find out what happens in Part II of Tying Up Some Loose Ends!

Btw, the Iberian kingdoms can surprise yuo sometimes.
In some games, they lose everything to the muslims,
and in some games everyone wants to be their vassals.

I agree, nobles can be noobish.

Enewald: Both of those points are true. :)

Orlanth2000: Glad you enjoyed them. :)

I'm in the midst of exam season now and I plan to update on Saturday. Sorry for the delay, but schoolwork must come first. :(
