Hi All,

at first i would like to thaks all the core members and bug reporters for this beautiful mod - great work (my girlfriend has an other opinion  )...

I play core 0.11 with hoi2 1.3b.

1938 as germany i am in the air-doctrine tech-tree in the army directed air arm and researched quit some things there.

But i can still research the independet air arm, witch would deactivate nearly the whole army directed air arm.

What happens to my gains from research from the army directed arm when i develop the independent one?

Because my pc is a good and very old friend, hoi takes - on fastest speed possible - 45 min per month.
So i decided to ask rather then spending some hours of my precious sunday to find out by myself.

thanks in advance for any hints...

I think that if you have already researched them then you keep the benefits but if you haven't researched them then they are no longer available. Not entirely sure about this but it would seem odd if it didn't work that way.

In practice i had all the top part of the air doctrines researched before i did the independent research and the org of my CAS and INT still went up.

Can anyone confirm exactly what happens?

Thanks

Doc

ok - i finally researched all army-air-techs and now finished researching independend air.

The techs from the army-air-tree are, despite of being deactivated, ar not crossed out.

So i suppose that the gains from these techs are still valid - something like wad:

You can go first army air and then go independend air while keping all the goodies or you can go the independend one from the beginning without ever changing to the army air.

As far as i know...and thats not very far ;-)

Yep, you get to keep all your already researched benefits.

The "drawback" of researching all Army doctrines first is that you are quite far behind the "Independent" nations. That said, I think those effect might need to be a bit more pronounced... perhaps delaying the the Army doctrines a year or so (towards the end, at least). But we'll see... it depends on how things look time-wise when all trees are complete - the simple lack of time for such things might make such a switch expensive enough for the Army-nations.

One idea (with all the problems regarding off-screen requirements) is to add an "or" requirement of either Military Design or Policy Change (the 1942 Conversions tech that allows access to normal research).
