I get dec points through the "achievements" but the extractor which is supposed to give dec points does not ? I extracted over 20 heroes with no gain. Is there really no way to gain more points ?

There's the few "achievements" for extracting heroes, but otherwise it seems to have no use once you've hit the cap on that particular "achievement."

There definitely seems to be a limit on DEC points and it feels pretty low after around the start of chapter 2. I personally find it especially annoying that I have to spend DEC to get DEC in a lot of cases (unique rooms, traps, and unit types).

I'm sure this is intended for balance. You'll find as you progress that you have to pick and choose what route you want to go with DEC points. The game doesn't do a very good job in explaining this but once you get far enough then just stop and look through the various achievements that give you points you notice there is a strategy to unlocking certain things. If they had explained this and squad benefits better I don't think there would be as much confusion as there is.

Some runes you can unlock are very powerful. There's even a rune that gives extra DEC points when unlocking DEC achievements.

The idea is that you have to choose what you want to use each map, rather than giving you access to everything. The 5 DEC points for a fifth squad actually starts to be less appealing when your choices are level 3 armor / weapons, a fifth squad or passive health regeneration on ALL of your units.

I like the system. It requires some forward thinking, especially in skirmish.

The game is WAY too dependent though on power Runes which gain DEC and reduce the cost of DEC. Personally there isn't remotely enough achievements in the Dungeonois which actually forces you to playing the game a certain way. You can only gain a total of 50 DEC points right now, no more -- no less unless you use Runes. They have no achievements for building extra Stock Rooms, no achievements for filling your coffers full of resources, no achievements for purchasing upgrades via the DEC system, no achievements for crushing Ladders, no achievements for killing multiplayer forces (no incentive to fight other dungeon lords), no achievements for building conservatively (they give you achievements for building a MUCH CRAP as possible though and digging a pointless maze of endless hallways), no achievements for building multiple treasures rooms, no achievements for successfully imprisoning heroes, no achievements for successfully getting heroes drunk, no achievements for successfully training on heroes, etc.. There is a lot ways to get DEC points, but these lazy bastards only stopped at making 50 achievements, and 10 of those achievements are just "Dungeon Levels". So really there are only 41 unique achievements.

Additionally, there should NEVER be a cap on turning heroes into DEC points. If I wanna farm off heroes all game to gain DEC, they should let me. Just giving me TWO DEC points for doing it is laughable. TWO. Really!? You SURE make it seem like I can get a whole LOT more, cus I have to build a room and man it all game.

The cap for 50 dec point, I think it's for have different style of way to play the game = different strategy. Me, I will not unlock all units because I have preference for this kind of units. I don't need to unlock the jail, because I prefer to unlock the monster den, or unlock this. Your are limited with the number of point you can gain or spend but the goal is not to be able to unlock all possible skills/rooms/units/runes. It's to be able to personalize your build and the way you want to play. You need to choose and make decision, that will impact your gameplay. This kind of thinking and tech tree is inspired by rpg element. If I play a warrior in a rpg game, I will be able to customize my tech tree to be able to do mores dps, or tank or go mores support? I will never be able to unlock all skills points available. If it will not having a cap to turning heroes into DEC points, that will ruins that, because everyone will have the possibility to unlock everything, and we will not have different strategy in multiplayer.

p.s. The extractor can unlock 3 DEC point, not only two :p

Do you know FAST multiplayer games are right now? They are over in 5 minutes! Turning heroes into DEC points only breaks the game if you spend an hour in your dungeon.

That doesn't happen in multiplayer.

And yes, I know well it RUINS that whole idea of LIMITING what you can do. That's the entire reason WHY I want to do it because I absolutely HATE the system of them limiting me so god damn much!!

The deal with limiting what you can do is about choosing to go for example fire or frost, its about trees where you can't get to the end of all branches, in Impire having that kind of limit simply means that you will never use certain aspects of your base, never recruit certain types of units and all those runes you can choose from.... you can't afford to pick them. If it is a design choice it is a poor one.

Exactly. And they said it's a design choice. But I thought they were talking about my Dungeon Lord and choosing the points for him -- not leaving me UNABLE to physically continue building my dungeon if I don't "manage" my DEC proper. So far having the additional RUNE cards are pointless because they cost extra DEC. The ONLY ones that ARE worth using are those which give you more DEC and reduce cost of DEC just so you can have extra DEC to spend. Personally I think it's a terrible system and it's only place because the maps are too small and too restricting. You can't actually BUILD what you want in this game, and once I realized that I got very-very-very angry.
