Defeating Malekith?

Having lots of fun in this mod playing as the High Elves. However, I don't seem to be able to kill Malekith through assassinations. I've launched three 'successful' attempts where it seems that he's supposed to die, but he still remains alive. Is Malekith immortal and unkillable? And if he isn't, how could I deal with him?

He is quite hard to kill, but it's fully possible to do so. I might be wrong, but I don't think assassinations work on Malekith, and you'll have to kill him via other means. (Such as Duel, Imprison/Execute, etc.)

I've executed him, and dueled him. I think it's an artifact like the von carstein ring.

UPDATE: I'll test out Duel/Execute in another game, but in this save, he's finally been deposed (I invaded while he was in a decade-long civil war, he surrendered to the rebels). He's just a courtier now, so I guess the problem's been solved indirectly.
