Questions

-Is there any benefit in making a vassal a daimyo? If a vassal is not a daimyo they won't get too powerful (something I'd like to avoid with plots).

If a vassal of your don't have a daimyo title he himself can't have vassals, which means he can't hold more than five provinces. So if you conquer a lot of provinces you need to hand them out to a large number of direct vassals. By having fewer direct vassals and letting the daimyos have vassals under them, you reduce the number of people who vote for clan leader, which makes it easier for you to keep them happy and make sure it's your heir who gets the votes when you die.

-How does occupation work, sometimes land goes to my vassals, sometimes to me.

It dependes who controls the siege. In the siege view there is a symbol at the top left corner which tells you this (a green star for you, a blue flag for vassals). Hover the mouse over it and the tooltip should tell you exactly who controls it and will get the province.

-How does the 'sow dissent' action work? Do you also get a message if your courtier was succesful like the 'improve relations' action?

As long as he stands in the province there are random events that can fire. Once he succeeds or fails you should get a message/event from your councillor.

What happens when a vassal without a daimyo title captures a second province?

That's not a problem as every character has a demesne limit of 5. Should he however on his own capture all kori in a kuni he will automatically grab the daimyo title.

Can you tell me how to make one of your vassals clan leaders? Lets say Im playing for ouichi and I want sugi to become clan leader is there any way to do it ? And if I make it will my teritory be renamed to suki ?

Only direct vassals of the same dynasty are eligible to become clan leaders. Vassals of another dynasty who aspire to lead their own clan must leave to form their own, either trough the diplomatic option or through plotting.

Than one more question: in full game can we start playing as vassal ?

Yes. You can start playing as any landed character, from smallest one-kori kokujin to the clan leader of the mighty Hosokawa or Yamana.

I tried this - made my son Daimyo of Hizen. But all the Kokujin remained my vassals, instead of becoming his. Is this a bug or WAD?

Kokujins aren't directly connected to daimyo titles, and thus does not transfer when you give the daimyo title away. If you want to give your son land, give him kokujin titles. The daimyo title give him the right to have his own vassals which means he can expand beyond the five province demesne limit.

So in theory, if all Kunis are fragmented into different owners who are not in vassalage, there could be no Daimyos?

If for instance a clan loses a daimyo title because all their koris in the kuni gets conquered, but not all of them are conquered by the same clan, no one ends up holding that daimyo title.

Hmm maybe I'm just a thick as a brick (Jethro Tull!!), but as far as I understand it you get the daimyo title when you or your direct vassals with the kokujin title hold all of the koris in the kuni. In my last game, after I had conquered a clan and subjugated it's former leader he still kept his daimyo title even though he and his kokujin vassal held just two of the five koris of the kuni.

Well if you subjugate them they will not give up their titles. Thats's part of the deal. Had you and your vassals conquered all of their provinces and no other clan would hold a kori in the kuni, you would have gotten the daimyo title.

I read somewhere that the battle system of the game would have some differences compared to EU3. Heard something about there being flanks and center, but at least in the demo it's the same ol' same ol'.

No the flanks are a new system in CKII. But there are some differences compared to EUIII. Different terrain give different frontage, or combat width, in a battle. Plus units with firearms, arquebusiers, work a little bit different. See the warfare dev diary for more information.

-Will the 'you can only ask the father/grandfather to marry a daughter' rule be changed in a patch or will you add an option to the characterlist to filter out people who can't be married (random courtiers, widows, and orphans).

If you use the marriage button on the character screen instead of the one on the diplo screen, this should be the case.

No, on your character or his childrens' (courtiers too? I forget) character screen there should be a marriage button which will present you with a list of possible wives.

When I form a new clan how is the name choosen? Random name based on location? Or something else?
Tried twice so far. Became a vassal as the Shoni and created a new clan. Once I became Chiba, the second time Yanada.

Birken needs to confirm/correct me on this one, but I think it goes like this: If your dynasty name isn't a clan already you're supposed to continue that name, otherwise pick an unused from the pre-scripted ones in dynasties.txt. If no one is available there, one from the clan names in cultures.txt will be used.

One more question. Do you have to be an adult to use plots? I have an underage clan leader and I have no plots available.

Yes, there are a few things not available to underage rulers, like plots and gaining court titles.

I think he means you get the bonuses for your manufactories for any troops you control. So if you raise the levies in your vassals province you get the bonuses, but any troops that they raise themselves only get the bonuses from manufactories in their own demesne.

Yes.

Also I wanted to ask, will there be such a thing like sworn brotherhood, adoption and possibility of women characters to have a titles or lead armies or take position in the court? For example Tachibana Ginchiyo was clan leader.

One of the things female characters can do is help defend the castle against a siege, so having a wife or female courtiers with high martial skill is definitely a good thing.

I seem to remember reading that if you lost all your land you also became ronin for a short time before it was game over, but this was a while ago and might have changed.

Unfortunately, that concept had to be dropped for technical reasons. It was a cool concept so maybe something that could be added in an expansion.

Is there a character/clan history file kept anywhere?

What do you mean? One for the setup or one that saves your character/clan's history as you play?

The latter.

No. All characters are saved so you can always click your way back to see your family line, but exactly which provinces you have held and such can't be viewed.
