Help would greatly be appreciated:

When the game is loading, and is loaded about half-way, it abruptly returns to the desktop. I get this message- "Demo32 has caused an error in <unknown>. Demo32 will now close" everytime the autorun menu comes on (asking whether I'd like to Install/Uninstall, and/or Play the game).

This is what it says in the autoplay notepad (located on the disk, folder 'Bin'):
DemoShield Demo The '%s' application could not be located. Please insert the next disk and press OK to continue. The '%s' application could not be located. Please browse for the application you want to launch.

I'm at a complete loss...

Me to, actually.

What version do you use, and what publisher is listed on the box/CD-ROM ?

Thank all the forces that may or not be! I thought my problem was one of a kind, but it appears Demo32 causes problems (particularily v.5 to 8, apparently) with other software as well. The version is the original(Doomsday) game as it is, no patches. Publisher is Atari.

If anyone, ANYONE, has any idea as to what can be done, or what exactly the problem might be, I (and I'm sure jpd) would greatly appreciate it if you would post it here. Thanks! :)

Have you remove the HOI2 demo from the registry?

Have you deleted the demoshield folder?

Yes, I got rid of the demo from the registry. But I don't recall there ever being a demoshield folder.

Check in the program files. Maybe it's program files/demoshield. Could also be in program files/installshield.

Remember to change your folder option to show hidden files.

If you can't find it, make a search for demo32. Make sure that you also search in hidden files.

Good luck

Hmm

And you still can't load DD?

The autoplay folder, do you mean DD shortcut?

Since you have deleted everything connected to demo32, try and completely remove DD and reinstall again. See sticky how to uninstall.-

Maybe it would work this time.

Good luck

And maybe try the following.

Start the Windows Explorer. Go to the main folder where you have Doomsday installed. Double click on the main hoi2 executable. Thus bypassing any shortcut, and any alterations regarding startup parameters, working directory or anything else that may be in a shortcut.

Does it still produce the error?
