The following chapter contains liberalism, which is not for the faint of heart.

The plague had finally reached Holstein, and Danish troops were ready.
The Battle for mankind began on Dec 1, 1838. It was a rout.
The entire Danish army disintegrated. Not one regiment of the army survived. It was a complete catastrophe.
An emergency draft was called, and the farmers took up arms. Joined by a newly formed regiment of irregulars, they moved south to save Kiel.
By the end of the year, the situation had turned around. Now 36,000 men were up in arms.
However, agitators called for unification with Sweden, the only other nation still safe from the apocalypse.
Perhaps this was caused by new ideals, and the government, taking this into consideration, decided to research it.
Another battle was fought, and won, but with heavy casualties.
And disaster began swinging around the rear, threatening Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
Despite this threat to the rear, troops moved south from Copenhagen to reinforce the Holstein defense.
Sweden, meanwhile, had became a great power, and began urging Denmark to unite with her.
But brave Denmark refused, as it was a power in its own right, only slightly below the rank of "great power."
Battle was met again, another victory! But alas, yet another Pyrrhic one.
France's remaining government requested refugee status in Copenhagen, which was approved.
And to sooth the populace, the plans for the defense were made public.
Despite these measures, the people grew restless. Their lives had only gotten worse since the pandemic began, and they blamed the government.
The king called for a Constitution, and with it, the first elections began.
But on the horizon, the empires of old began to die, and with it, the age of industrialism was nipped in the bud as well.

That's an end to this update. I lost my entire army to the zombies, but for some reason this placated them, and they went to Russia, saving my skin. But the dark times are not yet over. The next decade will be harder, and many will lose their lives.
