It took me almost half an hour just to be able to post this, which at this level of frustration (caused by this game) is maddening.

Do a google search of your missions on the campaign. You will find post after post talking about how stupid hard Majesty 2 is. And the complaint is identical every single time. The players DO NOT enjoy getting bum rushed 5-10 minutes in. It isn't fun having to replay the first 10 minutes of a mission 20-30 times, then spend the rest of the mission just breezing through. When I have buildings destroyed before I can even finish recruiting heroes, or worse can't even complete a single building, that is poor design. When my castle can be completely annihilated by day three, even though I am trying (and failing) to build guilds and towers, that is poor design. When there is only one solution and it involves a large chunk of luck, that isn't fun.

Part of the fun of an rts is the different strategies people use to win. Majesty 2 doesn't have that at all. The campaign is simply trial and error until you find the exact right way to do it and you get lucky. If you miss on either one of those, you are out of luck.

I spent no less than 4 hours trying to do the Mortal Foibles of Kings. I watched YouTube videos, read multiple forum posts, and finally ended up here hoping for some insight. There is nothing. Just rats, level 10 rats everywhere, destroying everything before I can get a couple level 1 heroes out, before I can get buildings finished most of the time. And by the end of day three my castle is always destroyed.

To make it worse, I know that if by some stroke of luck I ever make it past the bum rush, the rest of the mission will be cake. So the whole campaign is nothing but can you survive the first 10 minutes of each mission.

This game is not the enjoyable type of difficult. And a quick search of the web reveals the common consensus, this game is stupid hard for no reason and a lot of people are disappointed. The only part that is stupid hard is surviving what can only be termed as the zerg rush at the beginning. You wanna zerg rush me, fine, gimme a chance to build 3 buildings. Yeah, I will probably have to redo the mission several times, but with the time to build just three buildings (about 2-2.5 days or ten minutes), I feel like I stand a chance. Then it becomes a strategy of which buildings best fit the situation. Then I start to enjoy thinking it out and trying to decide what will work best against the enemy I'm facing.

I am not alone in feeling this way, and a simple web search of mission names shows that.

Majesty 2 is hard, no doubt about that. Sometimes it's difficult to place your buildings properly, when you don't even know from where the enemy will come.

I do have to agree partially that some missions can be frustrating (for example the mission with the dark mage - unless oyu place your building away from the castle, you're going ot be loosing heroes and tax collectors adn buildings like crazy...)

Yeah, this game is easy compared to other games in the RTS genre. Are you getting TPs out? Are you putting bounties on the big guys coming in? Yes, it's hard. But are you building all the different guilds, or just the major ones you need for the mission? If you're looking at a undead mission, you need two clerics. If you're looking at a magicky one, you need the mage guild first. You always need the rangers, because they take care of the rat problem, and the warriors are the ones that kill everything else with cleric backup. So almost always clerics/warriors/rangers and then maybe mages and/or rogues. But before I do all that I get the market going, and the blacksmith going. They are worthless without the additional weapons and armor.

It's not too hard. At first I though Pretenders to the Throne was insane, but after changing my strategy (building all my buildings in the SE and using the royal palace as a shield), it was not too hard. This goes for almost every mission.
