I'm a new Victoria player; sadly, my first post in these Forums concerns an odd bug. I have looked around, but haven't found it reported anywhere else. Whenever the Conservative Empire event happens, and Germany annexes Braunschweig (the History.txt file reads (1850-08-07 : September 8, 1850 : Germany annexed Braunschweig) a Windows' problem window pops up, and the game crashes to the desktop.

I have read that update 1.04 corrects the Conservative Empire effects, but I don't know whether it means this problem, because according to the right top corner, I'm playing Victoria 1.04 (with Victoria Revolutions), but the crash still happens.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Note that if you are running Revolutions and it says the version is 1.04 then you are running Revolutions v2.0 (they forgot to change the version number in the .exe) and should install the Rev 2.01 patch along with the hotfix in OHGamer's signature.

Thanks for all your replies; I see that the 2.01 patch is still unofficial. Any news about an official patch for Revolutions?
Concerning the Conservative Empire crash, I have to add that, sadly, I deleted the last saved game prior to the crash, and when I loaded a previous game and August 1850 came, the event didn't happen. Now, it's already 1853 and the game seems to be fine. I still wonder, however, if anyone has had that particular Event crash.

I installed Victoria 1.00 and then I installed Revolutions, without installing any Victoria patches. Should I uninstall the game and do it in a different way?

I'm running Windows XP SP 2 with 384Mb of RAM, so I think I fulfill the game minimuns, don't I?

2.01 is the official patch for revolutions

Perhaps should do a full reinstall just to be sure we have everything covered.

Best method

Victoria + Victoria 1.4 Patch + Revolutions Expansions

The 2.01 patch for Revolutions comes with the CD-Version of the expansion pack. If you downloaded Revolutions from gamersgate in the past month, the patch 2.01 is already included. You will know when you come to the game screen with the charging soldier picture, at the upper right corner in red print it should Version 2.01. If you downloaded Revolutions from Gamersgate more than a month ago, you may still have the patch 2.01 in you gamersgate downloader files.

Oks, thanks for all your ideas. I'll try a full reinstall.

After a full reinstall, everything looks fine.

That's all; everything looks fine after a full reinstall. And it seems like I had forgotten (somehow) to install the 2.01 patch. Silly me. Now, the Victoria Revolutions start screen reads Victoria - 2.01.
