just downloaded the 4.0.17 beta and sad to see there are still civics that just dont work, like memorialist. Can we at least get some sort of idea on when it might be fixed? atm all it does is start u with the building and give an absolutely tiny amount of stability

Can confirm that wilderness still kills itself when using all your biomass
Can Triple Confirm or at least Can confirm random empire death.

But I had Biomass.

any news on the species portraits causing big performance issues on planet view (or really anything with them onscreen)?
I would very much add my nickel in this as well. Performance on an amd 5600/rx6600/64gig ram/ssd without portraits and with:

The game crashes when i try to host a savefile (made in the 4.0.17 Beta Patch)

Can confirm this happen to me for a singleplayer session for a game started in 4.0.17 Beta. Never happened to me before that I had a corrupted savegame.

It was an multiple hour lasting session. No reloads were made. This morning couldn't load most of the savegames and tried to load the last one that worked.

I uploaded the last working savefile (2231.06.05.sav, 31 years into the game) and the first corrupt one (aaaa.sav, 35 years into the game). Every manual or auto savefile after this point crashes. There are 5 auto and one manual savefiles up to arround y2246.

not every relic world gets agricultural districts, it's random like any other world, with lower chance of them on relic worlds. as far as i know.
Not whats going on. My relic world homeworld lost all its built agricultural districts because of the last patch. See added picture, its not a planet without agri districts.

-edit-
I suddenly noticed I had an empty building slot on my capitol and checked my other planets as well. I had medical clinics and the upgraded version on some of them and all of those were removed as well.
-edit2-
Let me explain that I mean BUILT agricultural districts.

As I understand it, the developers couldn't immediately figure out the cause of the problem because it's not just about portraits and manifests itself when there are a large (20+) number of mods.
If you play without modifications, the problem is practically unnoticeable.

I noticed this by accident. I decided to check by creating more than 100 empty mods (just a folder with a file descriptor), enabled all these empty mods and the game started working much slower (a more detailed description is in my bug report "Stellaris - Adding any mods (even empty ones) reduces the overall performance of the game [4.0. 16] & [05ae]", unfortunately, the forum does not allow me to insert a link to my own topic).

It looks like there is something wrong with reading modifications in 4.0.

a change that makes the Fallen Empire repeatables not fill up your entire research options
Can we get a simple checkbox for "do not research dangerous technologies" to go along with the automatic research though?
Sometimes you just happen to be a crisis that doesn't want to research the synaptic lathe while also not wanting to choose three new research options every single month by hand.
That'd be a great quality of life feature to go along with the change to FE repeatables.

Wilderness Empires will no longer destroy themselves when spending biomass

I've been playing the 4.0.17 open beta (stellaris_test) with a friend yesterday (about 16h ago at time of writing) as a Wilderness empire.
Even without spending biomass at that moment (at least not that I remember) the game suddenly informed me that my empire has in fact fallen for no discernible reason.

What's worse, we then found out that every single autosave was corrupt, even those from a day prior (when we started that game on stellaris_test, which should've been the same version if I'm not mistaken.
The manual saves were fine, but every autosave before and after was trash, meaning we lost about around 4 hours, maybe more, of gameplay.

Edit: Corrupt here meaning that loading it will result in a crash to desktop.

On the other hand, the OOS issues were down to two desyncs near the start of the game, with no further desyncs for about 200 years or so (which is when I randomly evaporated into thin air), which is great news, making the game actually playable in MP again.

Edit: I don't have the saves on hand since I wasn't the host, will attach some when I can.

4.0.15 was working perfectly for our 3 player multiplayer game, no out-of-sync errors for 100+ years! Then upgrading to 4.0.17 open beta causes COUNTRY_RESOURCES OOS on the 2nd of every month. Rolling back to 4.0.15 now still causes the OOS on the 2nd of every month

Some feedbacks after running GA observations, wilderness in open beta:
1. (Performance) Overall performance have been improved, but game still have stuttering when I open any UI or click to build something. Also some UI with portrait cause performance issue. This happened when Paragon dlc came out too so maybe referencing that could be helpful.
2. (AI) While AI got decent(for AI) fleets and economy, but some old problem still exist. AI tends to play wide, but playing wide make thier science unusable, end up in situation where strongest empire tends to have 3~4 tier weapon in 2300. Tall empires can't stop those wide empire's pressure so they got elimated, overall galactic science level gone slow. I think it's more like balancing issue than AI issue though(similar situation happened in 3.14). Bandaid fix could be something like make AI's science goal go higher than 2k~3k.
3. (AI) Some AI stuck in their biogenesis situation by not researching genetic editing tech, some finish it by lucky tech choice. I think when AI choose ascension tree they should focus more on finish situation by researching required technology as fast as possible. Might be similiar case but some AI don't choose tradition while they can.
4. (Wilderness) Hivemind FE's genetic event still can cause Wilderness empire have naustic birth(can't remember exact english name sorry) which is prohibited.
5. (QoL stuff) Playing something like Wilderness feels there should be mass building something hotkey like army. And I don't know, maybe mass upgrade button like 2.1? Playing Wilderness sometime cause nostelgia from tile era, clicking every yellow arrow all the time.
6. (FE Building) Reducing overall chance just make repeatable half tech, half buildings all the time. In repeatable era there isn't enough techs for not showing repeatable so it happens. I suggest merge each area of science field FE buildings repeatable techs, so 1 in physics, 1 in society, 1 in engineering.
7. (Bioship) Similiar to FE building repeatable, game really should merge weaver weapon tech into more focused one. FE repeatable clogs the endgame repeatable, weaver clogs early-mid game society research. Even worse unlike FE repeatable they stuck there for eternity.

Just happend to have my second longer playthrough savefile became corrupted. (See first some posts above)

This seems to be a recurring problem specific to this Beta, as it never happened to me that a savegame was unable to load. Original checksum

Currently filling a bug report.

Are you playing single player too? I found a workaround to loading my save - in my own bug report I submitted earlier. Try that maybe.

is it on a new game? I'm more than an hour in in my savefile that started two minor versions ago, and no corruption yet, rather I've seen a bugfix for biomass depopulation with the latest beta branch

get on the test branch for 4.0.17, I've just spent all of mu available biomass but 50, upgrading, building buildings, building districts, and no jobs were depopulated on planets, so it feels like it's been fixed?

Seems like with my previous reply I brought doom unto me.. I have Alt F4 and I'm still able to play, but I'm uncertain of what I did wrong to loose all, and have this screen to continue playing as someone else.

Yes
Both games started on 4.0.17 and arround y30-40 corrupted. More details in the bug report.
Other similarities: Same player empire

There seem to be other players affected too. So chances are the longer your game runs (in game time) you may be affected too. If you want to (but probably don't have the time) complete in one go, without loading you're probably fine
