Developers question 3D graphics.

I have made a 3D model in blender with textures uv map etc everything looked fine, rendered perfectly in Blender.

The problem is that once I ran it in Rome the textures did not show up, it looked to me that it had something to do with the lighting or shading.

Just to test the file itself I ran it in EU3 and there was no problem it worked a treat.

So I guess because you can rotate the map fully in Rome I am missing some settings, a camera position or extra lamps, I think it should be something obvious (not to me) because it works fine in EU3.

Any help appreciated.

the only thing i can think of is to try to install plugins, and test editing in photoshop too :eek:o

No I don't think its anything to do with photoshop unless for some reason Romes 3D .x files need .dds textures rather then just .tga files. I will check just to be sure.

I can put the 3D model into EU3 and it works fine there is something a little different about the Rome set up.

The fact that you can rotate the map in itself could mean the model should be lit differently.

the textures of the models are in ...gfx/anims

they are .dds

Problem solved never assigned the mesh its correct material.

But as I am on the subject in EU3 the 3D files have the texture file as a .tga. In Rome the 3D files have the texture file as a .dds file.

What is the difference if any? Is it just simply the way your 3D programme works. I presume it would make no difference to my 3D objects if its texture file was a .tga.

From what I've noticed so far, .dds files contain a "mipmap" which enables them to conform to different aspect ratios (mainly 4:3 and 16:9, standard and widescreen) differently and/or better than normal image files. Granted there may be an entirely different reason for the aspect ratio thing, but the presence of mipmaps was the only thing I could immediately spot as different.
