Well, you downloaded AoD_Patch109_RC2.rar instead of changes36.7z. The later is 1 MB, the earlier is however is a complete patch.

Nonetheless, both will work and have the same result. Both have a folder called Arsenal of Democracy, but for set36 only the new files are contained, while RC2 contains al files from RC1 aswell.
 
I went where Pioniere said. I would rather just patch the smaller 1MB for "changes 36.7z" but can't see any link to download that in your 1st post. Anyway, I'll figure it out, now that I know to change what I downloaded to have proper file name of RC2 after it is extracted. Thanks. It seems odd that a zipped file changes it file name with being extracted. I suppose I should have watched it while extracting so I would have been clued in.

This current test game is a bit unusual. First the germany reduced the soviet army from over 300 to less than 100 landdivisions. Still the soviets stalled the grmany offensive in late 1941 at the Ural. In Africa Italy succeeded completely by mid 1941, but in early 1942 the USA steamrolled them. In China Japan had trouble before 1939, but once 1939 started they progressed rather much and reduced chinas resources into a huge negative. By 1943 the USA are steamrolling the Wehrmacht via the caucasus.

I'm down on my hands and knees begging someone to change the .exe to enable multiple brigades for land units and converting land units from one type to another. If I knew how I would do it myself but I don't.

* paratrooper combat
* how the AI handles combat - preferably allowing more soft-coded edits to be done
* unit trading
* the over-powered effect the capital has on the ESE of the entire army
* the create supply dump feature (currently it tries to ship directly from the capital to the place you want to create the supply dump - i.e. as the UK, you want to create a supply dump in Singapore but cannot as the feature tries to ship the resources from London -> Singapore, rather then from a sea province, i.e. Plymouth -> Singapore, so it invariably does not work for the UK)
* ships being able to move port-to-port - perhaps justifiable for destroyers, but for carriers/battleships/loaded transports it gets ridiculous - DH has prevented it so should AoD!
* unit stealing (i.e. EXPing a nation's army just before it is to be annexed - if people talk of Free French units and such, that's what events are for!)
* being able to join an alliance that's at war, while you cannot declare war on the nation they're at war with (i.e. primarily for USA, where it can ally with the UK that's at war with Germany, but typically cannot declare war on Germany in the first place)
* bombing at midnight means provinces can't be repaired
* units spontaneously vanishing in various circumstances
* muti-player netcode (apparently) having much room for improvement
* secret weapon techs sometimes taking an age to activate (while the AI gets access to them instantly...)
* splitting armies up at midnight (apparently) leads to the newly divided army vanishing
* units stupidly retreating to the most ridiculous provinces


* And more I probably just can't think of right now (adding more as a I think of them, edited once so far)

In my current testgame France has 111 land divisions in mid july 1940 when Germany has finally taken belgium and starts to invade france itself. Germany has taken 300k+ casualties in total so far.

Edit: By early september Germany has still not reached Paris, France has still 110 land divisions and Italy has successfully amphibed Marseille.

Edit2: By mid october the italian invasion force has been beaten and Paris is still french controlled. Meanwhile in Africa Italy has taken all french coastal provinces and Syria, too.

Edit3: At november the 10th Vichy finally triggers. France has beaten 2 initially successful invasions of Marseille. Germany has suffered 564k casualties in total. Germany is down to 113 land divisions because some have simply been annilihated by fierce french resistence.

Edit4: One italian divisions is closed in Mossul after giving back some provinces to Vichy. Casablanca etc. however have not been returned as this is not part of the event. Italy was never supposed to proceed this far.

Obviously I know this is untrue, but it's as if you've used Lord Jarski's AI file for France and Italy but not Germany :D
 
Well, italy did not perform so well. Its losses allowed the UK to contain Italy rather well after Vichy. As for germany there is the everything or nothing principle. Either germany can utilize its huge max org advantage to dissolve the enemy land divisions in the first weeks of an offensive as a successfull AI-Blitzkrieg or it fails terrible. Than the enemy can use its higher numbers and its superior ESE to reduce the strenght of the german land divisions faster than germany can handle.

I imagine a large part of the problem is the German AI, if it's blitzkrieg is unsuccessful, rather then holding off further attacks and waiting on reinforcements it will just grind down it's own units in persistent suicide attacks.

It is 162.39% ESE in Lille prior to 1940 logistics and TC overload. Those infra builds were meant to strenghten France after all.

It will have less than 160% ESE at the border to Belgium at the time of Danzig prior to 1940 logistics and TC overload. So under ideal conditions the french ESE advantage would be marginal, maybe 10%. But if infra in Belgium needs to be repaired first and supply lines have not been established fully, than france will have a substancial advantage in ESE.

The inability of AI to preserve units strenght is a large part of the problem. A good part of that however also comes from french counter attacks. I have seen german AI attacking with 50 armoured divisions. They were annilihated by the french AI and its counter attacks. Armoured divisions lose little strenght during attack, they lose large portions of strenght when being attacked. Unless an early breakthrough can be exploited the superior numbers und the superior ESE will decide.

That drastically increased the amount of errors shown by the validator. I am not quite sure how to proceed. As the file seems to be working the way it was in RC5 i would rather keep it that way.
