BTW, did you get in contact with mumia? maybe he would be interested in applying this to his map.

The mix would be fucking awesome.

Today I uploaded a new DEC Map.zip which now includes the updated files to show the icons in Malta and Gibraltar correctly. The link in post Nr.1 is updated too.

I must say that your map is a brilliant piece of art. Keep up the good work.

Just one small request. Like the ones before me, could you create separate version without custom city icons on level 1 and 2 zoom ?

The only flaw is that hill terrain looks exactly like plains. Any plans to fix that?

This is a very awesome improvement! I really like it, great work! I do want to point out the fact that "Plains" and "Hills" look the same (as mentioned already), but thats not a big deal. What I noticed was that for instance, the province of Suwalki, is "Urban", having the red province look. Düsseldorf on the other hand, isnt even though it's right in the middle of the Ruhr area. If that had been in the game before, ignore it...but if that's something this mod provided, then I must say that this is not realistic. I dont know if there are more examples like this, I just noticed these two provinces first...

Another thing I noticed: The city of Aachen is shown as "Aachhen"...I saw you are using the Tannenberg font for the province names on the map. By pressing "c", it actually makes "ch" when using the font. This is because a single "c" was and is very unusual in the German language, it's most likely linked to a "h". Thats why the creators of the font incorporated the "ch", a very frequent German ligature, to the "c" letter on the keyboard. As a consequence it's shown as Aachhen. The single "c" is usable if shift+4 (the dollar sign on my German keyboard) is held.
The same happened to Lubeck...

I dont know if that's actually your typing mistake or of the game, I thought I'd tell anyway.

Yes, the hills and swamps are not visualized on purpose because the map would look overburdened. So I decided to realize the terrain with most tactical importance. About the city areas, in my AOD mod where DEC map comes from city areas are very important strategic points, so I had to introduce more of them in different areas of the map (mainly in europe). You have a point about realism here, it was a matter of gameplay (same to argue if Tobruk is a city area). Tannenberg font , first I really didn't know how to manage the "c" and "ch", therefore in the first areas of the map (I started in germany) there still can be some mistyping. As you see in Zurich, Brescia... it was getting better afterwards. As you maybe also have seen - not all of the map is in the Tannenberg font, mainly I did europe where most of the battles occure. It was a bit time consuming to "rewrite" the world. Thanks for the tips and I think there will be an update of the map where some correction can be made.

Ah ok, I see. I did notice the other provinces, where the "c" stands alone without the "h" attached. That made me think that it might have been the game rather than you, but my post was already sent and I wasn't 100% sure. You did a very good job with the new names and adding the font to the map creates a very nice atmosphere. I did not know that one can change the province names shown on the map, I thought they were hardcoded. Could you tell me how that works? I always wanted to get rid of names like "Plzen" or "Poznan"..."Klaipeda"..etc. and have the German names on the map instead. Only if it's not too much trouble for you to explain.

And regarding the name of that special type of Fraktur, developed in 1933. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tannenberg_(Schriftart) It is amongst the best looking fonts ever, me thinks...:p

Changing province names shown on map is hardcoded, you can only change them in map mod using map editor.

YEs. To make things clear, the mod should work with 1.03 with no problem. But of course we keep our own vanilla map.

Ok, there is a very high chance i'm mixing it up with a different Paradox game or that I'm totally wrong in the first place. But, I got it stuck to my head that in 1.03, there are going to be province changes somewhere (I have a screenshot of South America..Brazil? in mind). Of course I believe you saying that the mod will be compatible, but will he not have to make a 1.03 version of it, adapting to the (in my funny head existing) province changes? Otherwise the map will still be 1.02, wont it? Sorry if i ask a noob question here...cheers!

That map that you saw (long time ago) was a revised version still in development that is not ready for play -> Is not going to be in 1.03
So, when Fernando Torres says that is going to be compatible, he is referring that the map in DH Full is not going to be changed (no in time for 1.03 at least).

How I do know this? The Devs has been trying to squash this rumor for quite a while.

Cheers.

Ah ok mate. I wasnt around a lot lately but came back to play after seeing this great map improvement, but having remembered the map changes I saw a while ago, I felt that I needed to ask here. Anyway, thanks for your answer!
