That map that you saw (long time ago) was a revised version still in development that is not ready for play -> Is not going to be in 1.03
So, when Fernando Torres says that is going to be compatible, he is referring that the map in DH Full is not going to be changed (no in time for 1.03 at least).

How I do know this? The Devs has been trying to squash this rumor for quite a while.

Ok, having read the map changes the creators have implemented in 1.03, I just got to ask again. Things like these 1. Fixed wrong sea province connection between provinces 1077 and 383. or 2. Removed wrong river connection between provinces 1157 (Kansk) and 1164 (Ust-Kut), as well as this 4. Fixed Polish city names. or this 23. Added Kiel canal....basically the majority of the changes done are affecting the map itself. And seriously this mod will not affect them at all? I still get the awesome changes of 1.03? Great!

Ok I tested it. Installed the 1.03 patch and checked for some changes, like the Kiel Canal. Then I installed the map mod, which makes the game checksum change to HIQP on DH Full. While it seems that for example the Kiel Canal is still there, and some other changes like the connection between Bursa and Gallipoli, a variety of 1.03 changes have not been kept. Karlovac has a beach again, Nancy is still a mountain area, Siauliai in Lithuania has no port...only 3 things I found that the mod reverses back to 1.02 settings. It seems like there has to be a 1.03 update of this great piece of map work! :)

The 1.03 changes you mention are happening in the "province.csv" file, which isn't exactly part of the map but included in my map mod. Any changes that affect terrain (which is defined in the province.csv) like adding or removing mountains have an impact to my map mod. Please notice that I cannot redraw the map every time, when a change in the province.csv is happening.

So what is the plan? Could one use your fine mod and just not overwrite the province.csv? The map will still look as badass, wont it? Or are u going to wait for 1.03 final and then create a newer version? I totally understand that it's a tricky one to do it every time, but seriously, your map mod is one of the finest I have ever seen in like 5 years HoI..:)

Just wanted to note; the country.csv file has to go into the db/ folder of whatever mod you're using it for/DH Full, not the root directory. Otherwise you get issues like Poland and Manchukuo being the same color as the USSR, etc.

Ive started a beta game now and I'm using all the files to create the awesome map, but I skipped the "province.csv" file, so in fact I'm having all the 1.03 changes (except for different nation colors, but that's ok) and still use the mod. The map shows the province of "Nancy" as mountain even though it's a hill province. That's about the only little error, but I don't mind. I hope the mod creator finds time to make a 1.03 update for this mod. If help is needed, pls pm :)

where does the country.csv go? (using steam/1.02) i put it in the DH Full folder and the color scales do not change.

edit: nevermind, i found it :p

Would be nice if you can check Belarusian terrain and some other areas a bit more accurate. Just couple of the provinces:
Brest - marshes (part of Polesia). Additionally you can add level 1 fortress here to simulate old Tsarist Russian Brest Fortress that played dramatic heroic role in both German campaigns in 1939 against Poland and in 1941 against the Soviets.
Grodno- plains.
Nowogródek - should be defiantly hills. This is one of the highest places in Belarus with very picturesque landscapes:

Vilejka - also hills preferably.
Głębokie, Polotsk and Vitebsk - forests.
Slutsk - marshes or plains.
Orsha - hills.
Here is a good geophysical map of Belarus.

Also Alytus and Bialystok should be forests. Suwalki could be marshes, but why Suwalki is urban, really?:) Panevėžys also can be foresty. The rest looks ok.

Some names choices are quite odd (a mix of Russian and Polish ones for Eastern Poland/Western Belarus and Ukraine - would be rather logical to make them all Polish instead) but I would not complain at all as your project is simply brilliant.:)

A nice overhaul for 1.03 (final?) would be terrific anyway :)

The naming of provinces has been rather odd in this game, but from the start of HoI. I reckon they took a map of 1933 and checked who owned the province at that time. And regardless of the population, they named it according to the official state language of the particular state. So for example the Sudeten provinces received their Czech name, even though 3 out of 3,6m inhabitants were German in 1938. Or Memel is called Klaipeda due to the same reason. Straßburg = Strasbourg in HoI...etc...
For major cities like Munich, Danzig or Warsaw they then took the English name, which I dont mind.

In all honesty, there should be a way to rename the provinces in the savefile, just like in Vic2. But ofc I understand that Vic2 is in general a much newer game, so anyway, we just have to live with it.

While I was playing HOI 2 (3-5 years back) I used some map mods they all seem nice on forums but in game all of them was useless they made gameplay hard and mostly for terrain map(which I dont use many times diplomatic view is my choice) but this map mod is looking absolutely great and its not too much detailed so gameplay is not effected.

Thank you soo much !

Today I released a version without the town/city areas and the province "Nancy" is not a mountain area anymore. Because of the removed city areas my updated province.csv became obsolete, which means the default DH file is used. DEC Map now should be safe for any version of DH.

I'll give the whole thing another try once 1.03 final is released. I don't know if the dev's are making more map or province related changes, so in case they dont, the version should be fine then.

Hey Decriser, Awesome work!

I'd just like to put in a request for some changes to urban provinces. First, I think Kostantinovsk (#645) was too small to be considered urban. I think nearby Rostov on Don (#644) should be urban instead (neighboring Vorishilovsk had some heavy industry so I could see it as an urban province).

I'd like to see the following provinces turned into urban provinces because they were either the site of heavy urban fighting (Voronezh) or they easily could have been turned into Stalingrads. There are some that should be urban, but the province is just too huge (like Saint Louis), so I've left those out. I included Dublin on my list just because I thought Eire needed some love.

Birmingham (#24)
Dublin (#34)
Cologne (#131)
Dusseldorf (#142)
Kharkov (#636)
Rostov on Don (#644)
Voronezh (#654)
Baltimore (#1808)
Pittsburgh (#1806)
Cleveland (#1825)
New Orleans (#1931)
Rio de janeiro (#2075)
Buenos Aires (#2050)
Calcutta (#1447)
Singapore (# 1432)
Tula (#584)
Saratov (#669)
Wilno (#258)
Yokohama (#1550)
Osaka (#1553)

Thanks and please consider my suggestions for any future iteration of this great map mod!
