Different save game file types

In my save game directory, there are two different types of files. One has the ending '.eug' and the other is '.eug.cfg'. Anybody know what the function of each is? When I want to erase a save, I erase both, right?

the eug.cfg is the file where different settings are stored. Personally I alos believe that this file is also why people can't seem to get their edited savegames to function properly, one of the values changes when you edit a scenario & start a new game with it. Haven't had time to test it out yet however.
