Perhaps, but if I understand how things work correctly, Steam already has the game and is just waiting to release it. So any bugs or whatever will still require a patch later. Not much of a gain, IMHO.

And then there's the fact that the offical website for the game says it's now out in the US and digitally when only one of the digital sites is actually selling it.

I'm not complaining about the choice to let it go on Gamersgate first (if that what happened) but rather I think they should have been fair and told people that Steam and DD would unlock later. After all, the hardcore fans want it right away and if I'd preordered somewhere else I'd be mad that I wasn't told.

It is the release day for the US, just stores ain't rightly open.
Secondly, patience is a virtue. Take a nap ;).
 
Steam still hasn't released it, as they are holding to the noon PST countdown time. Seems like a lost opportunity.
