Hello, I am new to the HoI genre. My friends and I all recently bought HoI2 Doomsday and have been trying to get a game going in Multiplayer but have been having a lot of trouble. All of our routers are set to the requirements specified or we have just connected directly to the internet. We are able to join games and play inside of them however while in the game, I am unable to basically use any diplomacy features. I can use Intelligence, I can produce anything I please and move troops as I please. I however cannot declare war, accept for give trade agreements or join alliances. Any clue why? I am running Doomsday 1.2 (REEB).

Your question is related specifically to multi player games. At least, I assume the issues you describe are not a problem in a single player game.

Yes it is only a problem in Multiplayer, sorry I thought that the MP thread for for MP related issues such as games and discussing strategies not for answering technical problems. But yes the problem I described is only on Multiplayer.

Knowing what country you are playing would help, but I would guess that it's your sliders affecting your diplomatic capabilities. You cannot declare war if you are not sufficiently "interventionist" unless the opponent has an extremelly high belligerence. Your government type can affect DOW as well; democracies do not declare war as easily as dictatorships.
Were you trying to play the USA? Were all other players also not able to declare war?

Actually that does not really help at all since that is not the problem at all. It is not that I could not use certain diplomatic events, it is every and all. Every nation I can choose does the same thing. If I were the US it would not give me the option to declare war on a nation unless their belligerance was high enough and my intervention was high enough. I am not a newb, I have played single player for a long time. I can not use any functions which interact with other nations, even the computer. It shows that someone offered me a trade for instance and then when I accept it goes away on my screen but on the other persons screen it simply times out.
If your group is trying to play with the speed on too high it could be lag. If slowing the speed doesnt help try pausing to do diplomatic actions. If the date moves when your paused it means you are lagging, ask the host what date he has if its more then a week off you have a serious problem and must reduce your speed. Most MP games are played on normal at peacetime and slow at war.
To help turn off all chats or other internet pages that may be running. Also the game seems to require a minimum upload speed of 128lbps for all players and should be 512kbps for the host. Other options could be to try a different host.

Other things to consider. Have you knowingly or mistakingly changed any of the game files that may affect MP. If so or you think it may be a possibility, than try an un-install and full re-install. Other things to also remember is that this is a good game, but with that said. It also has alot of gameplay bugs and gliches, these you will undoubtable find out about when you get a successful MP game going. The version you need is Dooms Day 1.2 REBB. You said it was REEB, but I assumed it was just a typo. Hope this helps you a bit.
