Hi, Just seeing if anyone has figured out what level of diplomacy (250+, 400+ and so on) you need to get different AI to give you acceptance for things like non-aggression packs and so on?

I have been told by someone that he had things like that happen with -150 and so on, Which is believable since they would want to get out of war due to them having smaller amounts of units or something like that.

I have not been able to get anyone to give non aggression pack or anything higher than that even without being at least 400+.

What say Ye...

Thanks

This is something I've been wondering as well.

In example, in my current game (campaign mission, assembly 2nd mission) I'm trying to ally an AI faction that has opinion of me of 800 (max) and I have an opinion of -800 (cos reasons) and I literally can't get them to accept any deals whatsoever, they literally broke the non-aggression pact I had with them to declare war on me.

Maybe you have a racial negative that prevents the treaty, when it looks like you have enough opinion points?
I am getting that opinion all over also about things in the game, some think it has something to do with your secret tech. Not sure but maybe it is in the files somewhere, and someone will look into those.

Currently my objectives are to ally L0G3N-1 and they also must survive... Doesn't exactly make it easy when the AI keeps breaking NAP's 24/7

I had an AI offer a non-aggression pact and border access to me when they were at -800 opinion. This happened after I wooped their armies in a war, though I didn't take any cities. So I guess strategic considerations (being terrified of me), take precedence over opinion. .

Hi Hopit, in campaign a lot of diplomatic AI behavior is changed to work with the plot. What you describe sounds like there might be something going wrong with that in the second Assembly mission - any chance you could provide us with a save game so we can take a look?

Is there any other quest that could possibly be affecting it?

I know in the Dvar campaign I couldn't ally with the other Dvar until I completed the duel quest. Maybe that is normal but I hadn't realized it for quite some time and posts and such I have seen seem to make it sound like that quest isn't mandatory. But it probably got locked in by a choice I made at some point.
No other quests were left and I basically had vision on all of the map, so I wasn't missing anything.

I ended up praising ai every turn, and giving them gifts and taking very one sided deals to get the alliance

Hi Eomolch, I have spent a couple hours today trying to quantify how the opinion value affects when an AI increases (or decreases) it's diplomatic state with you, and there seems to be a wide range of theories online. I first thought that an AI wouldn't declare war if over -200 opinion, but then I got declared on at -100 opinion.. after an AI fabricated a claim from positive 50 opinion. It occurred to me that maybe that happened because I was playing with the AI on Hard difficulty. It also sounds like strategic considerations are a big factor, but that is a little tricky to prove. I also can't tell if my opinion of a commander (which goes down every time they deny a trade) is a factor in their decisions.

Could you please explain what opinion values you need to be above to increase your diplomatic state with an AI commander?

In standard scenario I was negative 75 with an adjacent commander that a few turns ago said was going to war me. I complimented a couple times and at -75 they said they wished to improve their relation with me. So I sent a non-aggression offer which they accepted. Over the next two turns everyone but my enemy gave me a similar message of "I'd like to improve my relations with you" and immediately accepted my non-aggression offers. Even guys that hated my secret tech or hated that I was a veteran.

...I was dead last in capability rankings.
