With Victoria II map modding was easy - just open photoshop, make your tweaks, adjust files as needed, and voila done

Now, with this new map modding tool built into the game I am completely lost on how to mod the map.

Are there any good online tutorials on the basics of how to use the map modding tool?

I think there were several small ones linked on the Modding Coop Discord (which is a great place to ask questions by the way).

Those are the ones I found with a quick search:

I've read through these already and they helped a bit but I am now stuck on issues like creating new hubs when you create a new state. See my post in this thread : https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...new-locators-for-new-states-just-how.1562110/

I've already joined the discord V3 group (my username there is DJCMH) - is that the co-op you mean or are there other groups?

There specifically is a Discord Group for Victoria 3 Modding, in which you can often find help faster than in the other places.

Sadly I don't know a lot about map modding ( except for changing around the provinces in Switzerland once), otherwise I would offer my help.

Edit: Just noticed that there already is someone with your Discord name in the Coop, so that is probably you then :D

Well after a bunch of trial and error, I've started to figure things out. Now am able to create new state, add new provinces, and adjust spline networks to move hubs around in a state (and rename hub to a more appropriate town - Cleveland not in game is just silly) and connect them up into a nice transport system. It's sad that there is such a lack of documentation on how to use the map modder, but slowly I'm starting to get some of the basics.

It may well be, but just not on the map at the start. V3 has this weird system whereby new settlements appear over time, so there are city names in the game that will come about later but just aren't visible initially.

No, there can only be at most 5 cities for a state region, and while not all of them are 'present' at the start, it's not hard to look up the list in the game files, and Cleveland is indeed not there.

Well, if you want to do me (and a lot of people from the area) a great favor, you may solve two issues in northern Italy.

#1: The positions of Brescia and Bergamo are mistaken. Bergamo should be the city in the west, Brescia in the east.

#2: Venice. It feels so awkward that Verona is the capital city of Venetia. Some may argue that it is today (in an unofficial sense, but economically spoken, it has surpassed Venice to some degree), but in the 19th century and also in a traditional sense, it should be Venice. At the moment, Venice is used as the port of Venetia, so it can't be capital. But I think it would make much more sense to add Chioggia as port city and give Venice the position of capital city. Verona, however, should still be on the map.
