Disabling Space Race

I had played this game for over 250 hours prior to getting Space Race. While I love some of the new features, some of the situations have ruined games for me. One example, I have over a 140 colony slots and a new colony ship arriving when I am presented with the situation that I could either leave my colonists alone and lose 10 morale, or give them more space and gain 10 sanity, or something like that. I chose the latter, and suddently had over 300 homeless colonists, and nothing I could do about it. In my opinion that game was ruined, and I don't want to play it again until I can get rid of this expansion. Sure, the new features are nice, but stuff like that is a game breaker. I play for fun, and that is not, in my opinion, fun. So, how do I get rid of Space Race and go back to the older version of Surviving Mars?

Would be nice if there was a game setting to turn off the "Race" feature.

I dont understand. I got same thing, but i did not end up with that many homeless. What do you mean 140 colony slots?

You can turn off events with the game options, you can set all the other colonies to none to turn off the "space race" and i know you can disable the DLC, though I'm not sure how off the top of my head.

It's very easy for steam version. You can go into dlc section for Surviving Mars in library and disable dlc manually.

And for the GOG version, just don't install the DLC. It's a separate installer.

As Zaskow says, uncheck the "Space Race" DLC in Steam to completely disable it.

Note that "Events" are listed in the Gagarin free update patch, so the above may not do exactly what you want.

As omniplex said, you can turn off Events and Rival Colonies.

When starting a new game, if you don't want Rival Colonies, click on it and set them all to "None".
If you don't want Events, click on "Game Rules", and then select "No Events".
