Disappearing Units

I am playing the UK and I have total dominance of the seas. I was building a new naval stack comprised of 2 brand new CVs and a few DDs and all of a sudden, while based in port, the CVs disappeared from the game! They are not being redeployed and I wasn't attacked, so WTF happened?
