 I am having horrible issues with Europa Universalis Rome and what seems to be display issues; there is no error message. No other game has done this on my system and this is AFTER the v1.2 patch has been installed. I also have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and rolled back display drivers.

Here's what happens: Right after I double click to load the game, the first thing that I see is the Rome load screen, but it's all "stretched out." When I finally get to the main menu screen, all of the "hot" parts of the buttons and other options on that screen seem to be "off," or "not matching up." I tried readjusting my screen settings and my hardware acceleration is on the highest level. Then the game gets to the point (from the main menu screen), that the game locks up and freezes and literally crashes my computer. The store won't let me return the game, even for a store credit...PLEASE HELP!!

Hardware Specifications: XP, 2.8G clock, 1014m mem, DX9.0c, Nvidia GeForce 5500 @ 256m & Vertex / PixelShader 2.0 compatible.

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (delete all after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your rome/setting.txt and rome/logs/system.txt file please.
