Count Guillaume was a loving father of nine children in a small poor county on the border to France. As the county was fairly week he needed to have allies.

Guillaume was very concerned about his children and set out on a tour throughout the empire to marry his children to wealthy spouses.
To test his ground as a career marriage broker he started with his sister Sibylle.

He managed to marry her to Burchard von Neunburg(who later became duke of Sardinia) heir to count Ulrich of Neuchatel(later rebellious duke of Savoie)

At his death bed all his children were either married or betrothed:
His five daughters were married to:
Ermentrude was married to count Thierry of Verdun (also heir to the county of Sundgau)
Berthe was married to Rudolf von Lenzburg Spymaster and heir of the Duchy of Thüringa
Gisele was married to Aymon de Genéve Heir to the county of Geneva
Clemence was betrothed to Giselbert von Luxemburg Heir to the Duchy of Luxembourg
Sibylle was betrothed to Amédée the rebellious former Duke of Savoie currently Count of Savoie imprisoned after his failed independence war.

His four sons:
Renaud is married to his cousin Ainés de Poitou daughter of Duke Guilhém of Aquitaine
Hugues is married to Bertha Florisdocther (daughter to Duke Floris of Holland)
Guy is betrothed to Ida von Habsburg sister to Duke Otto I of Osterich
Étienne is betrothed to countess Elisabeth of Innsbruck

Throughout the Guillaumes reign his allied Duke of Savoie rebelled twice towards the emperor and even though he both his sister(daughter in law to Duke Ulrich I first duke who rebelled) and youngest daughter(betrothed to Duke Amédée who started the second Independence war) was married into the families fighting the independency war Guillaume stayed neutral (maybe for the best as the emperor crushed the rebels quite easily)

But even though being that inactive his son in law favored him as a candidate to take of the duchy of Savoie

For over 12 years his chancellor Baron Jaufré worked trying to provoke a claim on the county of Aargau the only non-allied neighbor within his duchy, but it was done in vain. So instead of conducting any wars all money have been spent on building a wooden Palisade and creating a Castle village.

Now the crown has passed
To the eldest son, let’s see if he can utilize the alliances his father setup or if he have some other plans for the county of Bourgogne

Count Renaud takes over in Fall 1078.

He is soon greeted with a message from his dear mother, whom his father said had died. That liar! He promptly paid the modest sum that was being requested for her release.

Having witnessed his father's failure to fabricate a claim on Aargau, he orders his chancellor to focus efforts on Neuchatel instead. This tactic turns to be a wise one as the chancellor's efforts bear fruit in a minimum amount of time. He is forced to wait, however. His monetary reserves are very limited at the moment.

After he accumulates a small pile of ducats, he promptly hires some mercenaries to lay siege.((and I was too busy being stupid to take a screen of the actual war.)) He invites all of his allies, and only one accepts. It was not necessary though, as the war is over quickly, with Renaud the victor.

Later in his life, his chaplain describes to him the benefits of Catharism. He sees the wisdom in it, and promptly begins to convert all of the provinces to this new faith.

Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to convert all of his subjects. On the 17th of December, he succumbs to old age, handing all titles to his son, Guillaume.

He did succeed in converting the provinces, however. His last wish was that his son would see the light too, but that is up to fate.

Rykoshet
postal83
Benandorf
SaintEsteban
Zedwardson
Valvinar

You upload a link to your savegame to this tread after finishing and write something about what you did, If the person next on the list havent uploaded the game within 48 hours any other person is free to take the game and play the next ruler.

Shall I play the next round so that we can keep it moving, or is postal83 playing it?

Liking this idea, once you guys get things rolling and cemented down on how the play order and what not is going I'd enjoy throwing my hat in the ring. Will be keeping a close eye on what all happens with this :)
