I was wondering in what direction stellaris dlc's would go in. Are they gonna be like CK2 with map expansions or an extended timeline or more like EU4 mainly focusing on mechanics? The only thing that i think pdx will sell for sure are going to be cosmetic packs for ships and alien portraits. Quite looking forward to that actually.

Extended timeline? I'm having my doubts that there will be an enddate. It's not like there's a historic date they could aim for. :D

I'm guessing they'll focus on mechanics. Not much expanding you can do when your map covers the whole Milky Way and the timeline stretches from the beginning of space travel to Armageddon.

Didn't Doomdark said something like, that there is no end date, but a victory condition?
As for map expansion... Since the map is always randomly generated, there would be no much point in adding map expansions :D

All I know is that there's going to be truckloads of them.

All I hope is that regardless of their number they are worth the buck. More Art of War, less Charlemagne.

Egyptian Invasion: The ancient Egyptians emerge from underground in a random planet and begin to take over everything in its path

Trait packs, Phenotype packs, Technology packs, sprite packs, event packs

Trait packs are fairly simpl;e, just adding more traits from you and the AI to draw on at the start.

More Phenotypes would really get my money, want a robot race from the start? a dep sea jellyfish race? what about gas giant dwelling floating gasbags?

Technology packs, also self explanatory, new cool technologies we can discover and exploit.

Sprite packs, awesome new sprites for our ships and ground forces

event packs, new events we can encounter and mess with our playthrough!

Guessing we'll have some new races, possibly new items for the ship designer if it takes off and is a popular feature, that kind of thing. Would be great if we see new planet types or new research groups, though.

Who wants to bet that there'll be a reference to Sunset Invasion, with mad Aztec Jaguar Warriors streaming from a crack through space-time?

Intergalactic Cthulu DLC.

Traits, technologies and phenotypes shouldn't be a dlc, that would be like crap they do in Total war....

Egyptian Invasion: The ancient Egyptians emerge from underground in a random planet and begin to take over everything in its path

Bug Swarm: You discover a group of alien bugs that eat everything in its path, and is almost unstoppable. You even learn that the forces you fight are just expeditionary forces, the main force is coming still! Unfortunately, the last part of this DLC's story arc will be broken, where the event that causes the bug swarm to arrive with its main force at your homeworld will never fire.

id like a sunset invasion dlc, where the super advance america civilization from ck2, creates space ships and colonized a planet long ago, only to be destroyed in the last years and now thts all that remains of aztecs, ty

In all seriousness:

Phenotype DLC is pretty much guaranteed.

An ancient empire DLC, that adds a non-playable mega faction to the map. Similar to sunset invasion, but you can track it's progress before it mega-invades.

Genetic engineering DLC. Create a race of ultra warriors. KHAAAAN!

"Themed" DLC. (Obviously without calling them that) Warhammer 40k DLC that adds an evil-mammalian phenotype that try to open warp gates. Star Trek DLC that allows your race to specialize in to exploration and creating a mega-federation. Dune DLC that adds a new resource type only built on one planet in the middle of the universe. Etc.

Additional planet types DLC.

All of this just based on what I've seen Paradox and other companies do with this type of game DLC.
