ok guys, maybe its a bit too early for a mod like this, but i thought of compiling only little discrepancies (avoiding word mistake) that people from around the world might find, since everybody is an expert in some area.

what im trying to create here is a list of things that anybody can alter from their home computer without dealing either with the larger game engine issue or having to download anything. and that the crucial word. [as there will probably be enough flag mods]

paradox's philosophy about game accessability makes hoi (and any great product from them) ideal for this kind of 'nit-picking' (and thats what this thread is about).

remember try posting minor problems you come across such as event results, province ownership, leader names etc. over time i will accumulate them in a compiled post for easy reference. people will be given credit for their work.

the only rules you have to abide by are: 1. try to stay away from offering files to download. although you can offer them, it is rather to paste and copy into the text of your post any additions you make to a file. 2.include at least one source to support your claim, but the more the better 3. flag suggestions are welcome, but i dont want to cannibalize any other mods (plus flag mods tend to be download heavy and this is a do-it-yourself mod!)

Compilation of individual suggestions

Ok, here you will find all the suggestions made by players of HoI in areas they feel some discrepancies were present. I am sure once the game is released, we will actually begin operations and until now you can just focus on the few things that you can figure out from the (now) multiple screenshots out there.

the general format of an entry is:

# of suggestion
name of author;date posted;source quoted(yes/no);requiring download (yes/no)
"actual suggestion"

i will edit long suggestions to make it easy to read, but you can explain you reasons for the alteration in full (strongly recommended) in the actual post. and thank you all for making a great game even better!

I found that making slavkov part of slovakia is geographically rather inappropriate. that part of czechoslovakia known as moravia was a firm part of the german protectorate. after all it was named "Boehmen und Maehren" (Bohemia and Moravia).

the name of the province itself is somewhat odd. slvakov is only known for the battle of three emperors in 1805. yes you guessed it, it is called austerlitz in german. but the third largest city of czechoslovakia would fall into the boundaries of that province and is named "Brno". thus when editing the event, i would

thus, slovakia never controlled any areas around brno or slavkov and so it would be much more accurate to make it a german province when creating the slovakian puppet.

here is a map of slovak borders in 1939

this is a great hungarian map and shows that after munich hungary got southern areas of slovakia but the province set-up doesnt allow this to recreate accurately in HoI since lucenec province is too large

and heres a map in the original hoi release

notice the rump in north-west of slovakia and compare to the above map. i think with giving slavkov to germany, the map would have a much more realistic fell

the problem seemed to be remedied when playing in the 1939 campaign to further strengthen my point ;)

I am trying to get all the flag mods together(sans the verboten ones) on my site, so finding the stuff you need after the modding starts should be quick and easy...
