Is there a mod available or any way that I can modify Rome VV 2.1 so that it doesn't auto-assign tech/government positions at the start of a new game. I like to customise my government positions with worthy characters rather than settle with the numnuts that the game assigns. When VV came out, I could resign everyone from their positions at a severe loyalty cost (which was irritating), but now with VV 2.1, I can't resign anyone for a least 12 months (which is even worse).

Is there a modifyable text entry I can alter or anything? Bear in mind that I rarely tinker with or modify Rome's text files or savegames.

I think it's probably hard-coded?

Well actually you can't change the fact that the titles are auto-assigned at start of the game... however you can change the period where the title can be resigned.

look for this line in defines.txt
Code:
12 # _CHDEF_MINIMUM_JOB_TERM_
12 is the number of month a new title holder can't be resigned. Just change it to whatever you want.

Ya maybe the next patch they can include something like that.. I do understand why they put it in though, as people could always get a Praetor, then remove him, then he's a propraetor and now he can control the army and all.. (Using Rome as a example, I'm usre their others for other factions too) But agreed, it doesn't make up for the mistakes it makes in the beginning ...

That's a pretty good idea. I don't really mind the fact that the government officials have to serve a term, it's just that the game assigns total cretins. lol

It's like Paradox don't trust us to play fair! :p Is there a way to modify the characters' loyalty after they have been sacked from their positions? For example: start a new game, resign all the magistrates (taking the loyalty hits) and then edit a file to bring their loyalty back up to it's original state and remove titles (i.e. Ex-Pontifex Maximus), so that you are essentially left with a game that hasn't auto-assigned government postions.
