Do the artists on Paradox's staff have an above average ability to distinguish colours?

It seems that the 2-D artwork in HoI4 is subtle and nuanced.

Pleasant.

The colours appear to blend together.

For some eyes (and brains), it might be difficult to distinguish where one colour ends and another begins.

There may be many reasons for this profound elusiveness.

One reason could possibly be that colours are in the eyes of the beholder...and Paradox's 2D artists have special abilities when it comes to distinguishing 50 shades of grey (or red...or umber...or field-mouse brown...[insert favorite shade here]).

;)

Paradox had a bad reputation for accesibilty when it came to interfaces. E.g. use of red text on black backgound, information only displayed as coloured Pie charts e.t.c.

However recently there has been a change and the design and accessibilty of the interfaces has improved.
