Do game resources or factories have hardcoded characteristics? For example, we know that capitalists have a great urge to build glass factories, is that because of any hardcodedness in regards to them or, likewise, is there hardcodedness applied to other factories or resources?

I don't know... Only paradox knows.

Cappis seemed to build stuffs based on demand-supply, but it seemed that they have great passion on dye and glass factories. Steel and steamers are popular too... (I think especially when there are many socialist governments around)

Well, as for glass factories, you can delete them all together, or raise the cost required to build them, in the /db/economy folder it think. Theres a good number of things you can edit in that folder as well.
