Simple question, I want you to vote by pressing Agree or Respectfully Disagree.

Agree: Do you want the devs to rework the map into something more akin to Imperator, which is spherical, knowing, realistically, that it'd take development resources away from other aspects of the game?

Disagree: You prefer they leave the map as is and don't waste effort trying to make it more like Imperator.

I just want the Imperator map with a different filter (Go away classic age filter, welcome cold filter!)

I don't think that Imperator's map really qualifies as Spherical, but I do wish CK3's map was more like Imperator. What I have seen from screenshots doesn't impress me one bit.

Remeber that the actual map will probably be improved, those are just pre-alpha screenshots.

I think I'd also appreciate a map with an more medieval style (even if it's not completely geographically accurate!), but if not, then a 2D map is fine.
I don't see the need for a spherical map, and I believe that's not why people like Imperator's map. Check SMWH for CK2, it also looks very beautiful. It's more about the details, the parameters of transparency and which colours are picked, how they interact with the terrain, how the borders look like.

I know medieval people knew about spherical nature of Earth but I'd still feel it's immersion breaking for some reason.

Anyway, there is one crucial problem with spherical Earth in ck3:

You can't go from western edge of the map to eastern edge (and vive versa). You could bypass it by enormous wasteland covering most of the planet but then what's the point of spherical map?

You could have just a portion of a sphere. I don't know the English terminology of spherical geometry to describe the exact idea. The advantage would be having a less distorted map projection.

I am personally fine with a flat map, and have no other objections to spherical that it might take extra dev time. I like the idea of "hand-drawn" look for maps but I doubt it's that easy to make work fine.

Spherical cap

Not only it was knew but it was largely supported, since Pythagoras.

Would I like the map to be more like in Imperator? Yes. Do I want the devs to spend time and resources that would have been better used elsewhere on changing it? NO
In other words, while it would be nice thing to have, I dot mind it staying as it is.

Well,do I want to have a map as beautiful as Imperator? Yes, of course. Would I want them to spend most of their precious time and effort on this rather than focusing on making a better gameplay? No.

You can restrict the portion of globe you can rotate, say from meridian X to meridian Y and from parallel A to parallel B.
A globe is to prevent distortion and weird warping that comes with having to adopt a given projection for the whole map.

I would very much prefer a spherical map.

Even if it takes away precious dev-time: the map as an essential part of the game won't be changed during regular (dlc/expansion) post-launch evolution and has to be done now, if at all.
Regular content as extra events, etc. even mechanics can and will be added on their own.

We don't need a spherical map for CK, because there's no intent that it cover the whole world. EU games should be on a spherical map.

That's pure nonsense. We aren't talking about a globe here! But a slightly curved map. Imperator doesn't cover the whole world either.

It's far from being a globe:
But it's enough to prevent the ugly distortions of a flat map

Whilst it's true we haven't seen the finished product yet..... the imperator map blows the ck2 map out of the water.

But that isn't a spherical thing it's an art direction thing.
