I've extracted the crane from the default harbor to make into a prop but when I import it I get these weird shadow lines down the middle when rotating the light. I've tried using normal thief in 3dsmax to change the normals based on both a sphere and a squares but neither have worked, made it worse actually I think. I've had this issue before with models from the 3D warehouse but normal theif worked ok for those in the past. Makes the whole model look really un-natural. Hope someone can help me figure out a solution. Thanks

Here is another shot down the middle, you can really see it happening, it goes back and forth for some reason creating a checker pattern. Even on the silver in the front of the crane.
