Does hatching (diagonal line shading) over provinces in the diplomacy map mode indicate you have a casus belli on that area? (like claims in EU4?). If not, what does this mean? The mouseover tooltip does not say anything relevant

And if it does, then why isn't shown consistently on all provinces that you have a CB on? Should it?

Because in my Sparta game I have a CB on Azanian Achaea and Argolian Arcadia, and the map shows hatching on the Azanian territories, but nothing at all on the Argolian ones (screenshot below).

This is what prompts me to ask because I am quite confused about what it means...Would appreciate anyone's guidance!

Imperator has weird issues with mouse focus where it retains old selections when it shouldn't. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you've ever accidentally given orders to an army you thought you de-selected, then you know what I'm talking about.

I think in this screenshot, you are actually seeing Argos's claims due to the way that country is highlighted. Try right-clicking on Sparta and see if the map changes.

EDIT: Alternatively, it could be showing your ally's claims... and you do not get a cb for those.

Off-white hatching is indeed the claims that the selected country has. In this case, the game thinks that the selected country is actually Argos, even though you've clicked on the Sparta territory. Yeah, it's weird.

The hatching also disappears when you have a truce with the owner. For some reason, the truce overlay displays over the top of the claim overlay, so you can't easily see which territories you have a claim on.
