Is there a way to get ahold of the most recent customized settings Doomie & Hartmann put together for the US release?

Will that be available for the week of 21 Feb? (please?)

You can get the first version of that alternative GC allready now, at Doomie's site. Next update is ready, awaiting release upon Doomdark's return from holiday.

I think what they made should run on any language version of the game.
Hartmann please confirm?

Great! I am dotting my i's and crossing my t's for the release. I have all of Oranje's FAQ printed out and some of the forum discussions of gameplay too. I also have like 300 pages of AARs I have read in the last 6 weeks!

OK, so if someone can give a link to Doomie's site that would be pretty cool.

I have boomarks for the following helpful sites:
http://www.ludd.luth.se/~doomdark/EUleaders.html http://home.hetnet.nl/~copia-fs/

Are there others? Maybe these should be listed in a separate thread in the FAQ section? You can expect high traffic come March.

The 'Improved Grand Campaign' runs with any language version of EU. :) All You will have to do is a (very) little editing to Your text.csv by Yourself. In the readme we give full step by step instructions for this (I enlarged this section somewhat for the upcoming 1.3., because there were some misunderstandings).

Savant, to download the Doomie-Hartmann alternative GC go here: http://www.ludd.luth.se/~doomdark/EUproject.html
This gives access to both the leaders and altGC files. I'll update the links section on my page as well.

Thanks Oranje! So, as a serious player :)
I want to do my own inventory here. I have downloaded/printed the following:

- the 'leaders' file
- the helpful Sapura et al. forum discussions
- the Oranje FAQs
- McGuinn's shields & abbreviations
- the Doomdark/Hartmann/McGuinn patch

OK, so I've read all these AARs and studied screenshots. Just need the game. Meantime I will look at the downloaded patch and see if I can make sense of it. I suppose once the game is installed and I understand the directory structure all this will be less of a puzzle.

Thanks! Any other 'prep' suggestions?

One quick question, is the improved GC treated as a seperate scenario?? When it comes out here in the US i want to play both scenarios, so will i be able to switch between them just like the 30 Years war and the GC?

Not sure Brendiaz,
because of the changes to the text.csv file.
The .eug and .inc files you can just copy and rename (change the .inc file relation string at the very end of the .eug file), so that no problem to have the alternative gc pop up as just an additional scenario in the game.
With regard to the text.csv I'm not sure what effects the changes would have on the normal GC. In the worst case you'd have to keep a copy of the old text.csv file somewhere else, and replace the new one if you want to play the normal GC.

Changes to the text.csv file would mean your changes are effective for both the alternate and original. Thus if you change the name of a country (e.g. my renaming of Thüringia to Cymru), it appears that way in all your scenarios. You would need to keep a copy of the text.csv file. Or, as I may perhaps do when I get the English version, install two copies of the game (if this will work). That way I can have the original and try different major modifications in another place.

P.S. Will this alternate Grand Campaign be posted here in the scenarios?

As the IGC involves editing of all 'open source' files (text.csv is not included but has to be edited a bit by the user nevertheless), this will inflict other scenarios as well, and not always in a beneficial way.
That´s why it is strongly recommended to make backups of ALL those files. One could also avoid any confusion by installing a second copy of EU in another folder just for the IGC, if one has the harddiskspace.

The newest version of the IGC will always be downloadable from Doomies site:
http://www.ludd.luth.se/~doomdark/EUproject.html

The reason we did not send it to Patric is just that we are still continuously modifying it.

Hartmann, I openned the CSV file that your readme tells a user to edit and I understand perfectly. This is a very user-friendly layout of game data that the Paradox team put together. I can see how some of these features are tied together with the shields, flags, and what-not. What I don't get is the big picture yet, but that will come with the game. Yet I also see that it can be easy to make a mistake editing these files what with a semi-colon out of place throwing everything off.

The readme for 1.2 describes lots of changes and seems up to date on the forum discussions. What would be different in the 1.3 version of your homemade patch?
