Doomsday Error

I just bought doomsday and ready to play when I start game load screen comes up and stop at 'Initializing Globals' so i press cntrl alt del a message box appears alongside my task manager and it says a thing about error or having trouble reading a code for battleships and convoys (will post actual message soon)
then it says Abort, Retry, or ignore if I press any of these 3 the game crashes I just downloaded game also can someone help me it is getting frustrating.

thats the error message and if i press 'abort it reads

Reinstall the game. See the sticky how to do it.

Update your game with the doomsday1.1 patch. You will find the patch in the doomsday forum

I have just bought the game and am having the exact same problem.

Problem only starts when I have patched the game. I have tried all the patches from 1.1 - 1.3a and the same thing happens every time.

I have searched all over the boards and bar this post I cant find anything similar though I may have missed something somewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got the same problem and only when I patch a game.... though the only reason I wanted to patch was that fact that I couldnt load previously saved games.....any help would be great

I have sorted the problem lords and ladies.

It is this...how silly I feel now that I have figured it out.

It seems myself as many others have...have been trying to install HOI2 1.1-1.3a patch over HOI2-Doomsday.

On this forum somewhere (and really they have done a crap job of explaining things for new converts) there is a Doomsday section and in this hidden section is the patch for Doomsday i.e. HOI2 - Doomsday expansion.

If you have HOI2-Doomsday box set then DO NOT INSTALL THE HOI2 updates.

That would explain your problems.
In the Main HOI2 forum, there is a sticky thread about the the DD sub forum and it is not hidden it is right there in plain sight.

But I take you meaning and will edit the HOI2 patch thread to make a note about the seperate DD patch. (Not that anyone will read it. )
