Romanian attempts to take turkey were valiantly thwarted by turkish troops partnering with US troops.

what about the pacific?
After japan's troubling times with china, the axis bribed china into peace by giving it lands in norway. This freed japanese forces which seem to be mounting an attack on india.

The suez channel has also changed hands several times, its currently under UK control and has thwarted many attempts to retake it.

About the game, so we're definatly pausing it until phad gets back in 2 weeks time then ?

We should certainly adjourn while you are away. I may be away myself next Sunday. The Axis seems rather shaky and it may be difficult to restart to much purpose unless you're wanting to fight it out with the USA too. We can see who's still interested in continuing when you return.

I agree there is no purpose to continue this game, the axis will fall...

Let us start a new recruit instead. I put up a new page.

If this game is winding up, some notes from the Berghof. The dominating issue for Germany was that a house rule stopped it from going to war until the Danzig event. This meant that 1939 would mostly be wasted and the Soviet Union would have ample time to get into shape and so be difficult/impossible to defeat.

Production of army units was therefore deferred until 41 tech for armour/infantry was ready. In the meantime, the airforce was fleshed out and the pre-war builds of warships were completed.

Poland was defeated with the starting army while the western front was screened. Italy got into difficulties, being unable to cope with both France and the UK who were quite aggressive. The German army soon put that right when it returned from Poland but then winter set in and made further attacking through the French alps unwise.

With the capital ships complete and some transports produced, it seemed an opportune time to try a surprise invasion of the UK. We were able to land successfully but found that the major urban areas were well-defended. Some wily play was then needed to outsmart and outmanouevre the British.

With the UK overrun and some extra infantry built, we then assaulted France via Belgium in the usual way. The French had gotten too used to the Phony War on that front and were caught flat-footed. The Vichy event then dealt with them.

We then cleaned up various minor countries and assaulted Gibraltar with simultaneous attacks from Portugal and the Pyrennees. We nearly managed a coup de main but the USA rushed lots of reinforcements in just in time and so we had to make a more deliberate assault to take it.

We then got involved in the African war which was quite interesting while fortifying the eastern front. I suppose the main mistake was not starting those fortifications sooner, as the German line proved too weak without them.

Maybe you should have complained on the rule BEFORE the game started I asked if the rules where okey. After first session you took it up by a email to me about danzig, but then it was to late. We can take away the rules next time you play germany. It would have been a very interessting game with those forts ready :)
