Okay, I tried the navigate to the DD folder and manually click the .exe file and it works for me. I noticed the same thing about the load bar color, but the game seems to be working fine for me and I played around with it for an hour or so.

Thanks for the pointer and let's hope they get this little issue resolved with the patch.

I have downloaded the Doomsday 1.1 via the ZTorm launcher.
This succeeded, and seems to install properly.
It didn't solve the Launch issue.
D-clicking hoi2.exe gave me the 1.1 DD version.
So I think they didn't fix the launch.exe problem.
I think it still tries to call the pre-DD hoi2.exe (old) file instead of the new (unlocked) hoi2.exe from the Doomsday directory

See the work around for now.

Update

I did a clean install and got the game to work. I do have the while line load but I have played more than three hours. Since it seems that they are still working out the bugs with the download I plan to install my CD copy(when it arrives) as I don't want to deal with this.

Now I am confused.
What do you mean by a clean install ?
Do I have to remove the Doomsday demo, downoad it again, and then apply the 1.1 patch again ?
Doets it then work with the ZTorm launcher ?

No, you don't have to re-install.. I thought that too at first. Just find the HoI II exe in the Doomsday folder and run that. Infact, create a shortcut and run it from your desktop. Looks better than the default shortcut and doesn't try to connect online either as far as I can tell.

Possible fix

For those using that have HOI2 (standard) installed as well as HOI2 Doomsday (downloaded version). Uninstall the HOI2(standard) and make sure to completely remove all files and folders associated with that install. Once this was done I was able to use the launcher and get the game to work.

Sorry did not mean to confuse…

What I did:
1. I upgraded from the demo and got the txt file error as reported in the first post.
2. I launched from exe and got a unknown string errors in the game(this may have been because I opened the editor to look at the file)
3. I uninstalled doomsday and deleted the folder
4. Reinstalled doomsday 1.0
5. Works fine from launcher and exe but loads with a white line now rather than the original green.
6. Tonight I will test 1.1 as I downloaded that last night and use the editor.

I’m running Windows XP on a Dell P4 with 2 gig of memory. No other application is running except Zone Alarm fire wall and Norton Anti Virus.

Update

Could not get launcher to work with 1.1 download
1.1 exe works from the folder. Editor seems spoty as sometimes it crashes and sometimes it boots fine but I only tested it 4 or so times.

My CD arrived and I'll be using that.

Sorry for the problems guys, we are runing them down.

I have the same "Critical Error! Unknown type in NavalDivision (...) battleship.txt" with the green loading bar when launching from the launcher.

I'll uninstall HoI II now and see if it fixes it.

Update EDIT: Yup, that worked. Uninstalled "Hearts of Iron 2" via Add/Remove programs on the control panel. The white bar is back and the game loads perfectly fine.

Hurrah!

As a sidenote, I suggest Paradox adds in the minimum requirements that Hearts of Iron 2 isn't supported    , and should be uninstalled before buying Doomsday. :D

I just bought the retail version and patched to 1.3a and when trying to start the game I get "(Unknown Type in Naval Divison)' Convoy Attack=14, Line=19, =db/units/battleship.txt." as above.

I have not had any other versions installed.
This is using HoI2.exe to launch it.

Fresh install of Windows XP SP 2, no firewall software or AV software on this PC as it is behind a NAT router and I am installing the AV software later today.

1.3a is a patch for HOI2 not doomsday.
The doomsday patch is 1.1.
