I am quite new to this mod and after some attempts, I settled with Aegon VI. Targaryen, who with huge luck conquered whole Westeros from Tommen...and got proposal for marriage from Daenerys, then got Viserion, tamed him and he put out an egg, which I later gave to my son and it hatched...I have no idea why getting dragon egg feels better than defending against crusade by yourself in HIP mod, but I am willing to accept it.
Anyways, I got this event with Brindleman invasion, they attacked Lys, and to be honest, I couldn´t care less, because even with their event spawned troops, they are much weaker than I am.
Then I look at dragons and I find out that there is 163 years old dragon owned by new king of Lys, who is his rider. Luckily, I killed the guy and dragon is now wild, and he will hopefully remain that way until the end of his life (I have no idea, if age and thus size of the dragon matters in fight, so maybe I have no reason to be scared, because even 0 years old Sunshine (by the way, can you name dragons if you own their egg when they hatch?) could kill him then).

How did that happen? Are there more events like this, when suddenly some dragon appears? I believed that Daenerys has the only dragons at that point in timeline and whole survival of their race depends on ability of Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion to breed.

A dragon's age is directly proportional to it's combat ability, so if some random guy tames the 150+ monster, they could chew through Dany's dragons with ease.

From my understanding, there are just three ways for random dragons to pop up:

The three main invasions that can occur, one by the Brindled Men and the other by the Yellow Emperor, both have a small chance of having it's liege owning a dragon; the homeland of the Brindled Men is certianly undocumented and wild enough that dragons could exist there, and the Yellow Emperor invader is meant to be a sorcerer of some renown, and a pervious Yellow Emperor once kept a dragon at his court. And of course, the Aztecs have a small chance of bringing a boatload of dragons with them.

The other random event involves a dragon popping up in Asshi.

1 - the older the dragon is, the bigger it is, and thus the higher it's marshal stat. So yes, you had good reason to be concerned and the thing would have utterly destroyed Sunshine. Just looking at the event code, looks like the thing would have had a martial of at least 80. That is a hell of alot. To put it in perspective, that makes it about the 3rd most powerful dragonon record, below only Vhagar during the Dance of Dragons (95), and Balerion himself. (100+).
2- you can not name dragons yourself to the best of my knowledge unless you edit the save directly.
3 - The Brindleman invasion gets a dragon is the ruler of the iron throne has a living dragon as a friend (they need not be a dragon rider yet).

Thanks a lot. Now I am really scared, because I already got invasion from Golden Emperor event, but he doesn´t have dragon yet.

By the way, if that huge dragon is in Lorath, could I send someone there, who could try to tame it? There aren´t enough Targaryens for even Dany´s dragons, but I still have Velaryons underneath me and from what I read, High Valyrian culture helps a lot with taming of dragon.

You're best bet would be to dragan-conquer Lorath and land members of Valyrian houses there. The Velaryons are good, but don't forget the Rambtons and the Sunglasses.

Well, I have 3 young daughters and 2 sons with Dany, so I could always give it to one of my daughters (I plan to give Ghis to my second-born son, after I inherit it after Dany´s death).

But, guess who got 166 years old dragon with 89 martial and also a dragon egg? Yes, that´s true, Golden Emperor of Yi Ti.

It happens too often. In every game I start either Brindlemen or Yi Ti horde pops up. In every second game, both of them. It should be toned down a bit.

Not only their invasions, but also dragon events in general. OK, I had only one game that lasted many years, so maybe I just got special game full of dragons, but right now, situation is:
3 original Dany´s dragons + 1 child of Viserion + 1 egg of that child
1 dragon from Sothoryos + 1 child of that dragon
1 dragon from Yi Ti + 1 egg of that dragon
1 dragon from Shadowlands
So, to sum it up, there are 4 Targaryen dragons (3 of them being there at the start of the game) and 4 event spawned dragons (+ 1 Targaryen egg and 1 egg from event spawned dragons). I get it that there are other areas of world and there could be other dragons (although, information from books kind of contradicts that, because spells of pyromancers and candles in Citadel started working after Dany hatched her eggs, which indicates that there were really no dragons left) and it is great that events like these exist in game, together with ability to get dragon egg and hatch it, but it shouldn´t be something that is usual.

Well, again if I am reading the code right, once there are at least 4 living dragons a global flag is set "age_of_dragons", which SIGNIFICANTLY increases the rate of the laying of eggs, their hatching, successful taming,, etc, and lets events like the appearance of a shadowlands dragon to happen.

You marrying Dany, and her giving you a dragon is what set all this off. Had that not happened, of if those invasions had kicked of before you got a dragon, neither of the Invasions would have gotten dragons and you probably wouldn't have seen a real increase in dragon activity until the birth of Viserion's child.

The initial pop-up looks something like this:

That particular invasion didn't have any Dragon Riders, though (at least none that I'm aware of).

Damn you, Sunshine, damn you to hell!
Anyways, thanks a lot for all those information.

Now I am little worried about my brother (After Dany died, Aegon commited suicide), who got Ghis and only single dragon egg (for some reason, Drogon went from Meereen to Dragonstone after Dany died and Rhaegal, who was wild dragon, came to King´s Landing...so, out of mercy, I granted little Daeron Sunshine´s egg, which will hopefully hatch and start new dragon colony in Meereen), because Golden Emperor still has his huge dragon and only thing that divides them is Qarth and few small states.

By the way, I have one question about dragon on dragon action (I mean battles, not sex...what were you thinking, you sick people?):
Can more than 2 dragons fight in one fight? Because my sister gathered support for her claim on my throne and first part of her army that landed in Crownlands was led by her and my army was led by my another sister/wife and I was also in there for some reason. And I got whole "Dance of the Dragons" popup, where I, with Sunshine (Viserion´s child, if anyone forgot), attack her and Rhaegal. But during battle, I realize that some parts of texts are about Viserion. And it changed multiple times between Viserion (my wife´s dragon) and Sunshine and Viserion even got wounded. So, is this normal? Where 2 dragons on one side attack 1 dragon on another side (or maybe even more dragons on both sides). And does it somehow help with the outcome of fight? I know that it is probably similar to duels in battles, where even weaker fighter can defeat better one, but it seemed strange that stronger Rhaegal became maimed, while I don´t even think that Sunshine or Viserion got chance to become maimed (although there was chance to become wounded and maimed for me or my wife).
