Short summary of your issue:
Driver power state failure blue screen when game loads for first try.

Game Version:
1.0 to 1.1.2 ( mostly 1.1.1)

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

Do you have mods enabled?
No and Yes ( first blue screens where without mods).

Have you tried verifying your game files?
Yes

How much "pain" is this causing you?
10/10

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible:

Play->Paradox luncher-> loading screen -> after 3 mins Driver power state failure blue screen. It started from second game start at version 1.0 but i still was able to play because chance to load game was 1/3 tries. Till this day i have 226h in game. At patch 1.1.1 chance was reduced to less than 5%. Every try (20+) ends in same blue screen and its only occuring in victoria 3. I tested other games - hoi4, eu4, stellaris, city skylines, dota2, anno 1800 and i dont have this issue.

I tryied to fix issue by instaling new card drivers - on game version 1.0 i was using nvidia driviers from 2018. Past few days i tested drivers from 2021, January 2022 and December 2022. All failed to load game. Managing power plan failed to.

Comp specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz
16,0 GB (avalible: 15,9 GB) RAM
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Intel HD Graphic 630 (integrated)

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
Driver power state failure blue screen. I dont know, maybe that i got one error with directx error on stress test? I would like to know what helps to replicate successfull game load :).

Do you have any advice how to lunch game?

Bluescreens are always Windows, driver or hardware faults, even if triggered by this game or any app! Next time one happens, record the message on the BSoD which should help in pinning down the area of the problem.

Meantime Right click on Victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Then test with a new unmodded campaign, NOT any existing one. Any better?

If not, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Hello, i hope You got great Christmas.
Past few weeks i done extensive tests about problem and found workaround. Verifying game files allowed me to play till game or computer restart. So i had chill / fun Christmas (and 100h in game :> ). It was fine until new year. New blue screen occurs after 10 to 20 mins of game - Video_dxkrnl_fatal_error. So i uninstalled card, reinstalled drivers, used SFC and DISM commands, updated Windows and finaly reinstalled it without deleting personal files. Reinstalling Windows fixed basic problem - "Driver power state failure" is not occurring anymore. Sadly crashes are still present.
After 10 to 20 mins of playtime game exits to windows. If i try to launch it again i got "failed creating render backend" and blue screen with "Video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error". Laptop restart fixes loading problem till i play another 20 mins. Its new, unmoded campain and i used all advices.
For me seems like hardware issue, but not typical one. GPU works at 89*C and i got no throttling. Do you have any advice left or i should just send laptop to computer service?
PS. Sory, some of txts are polish.

It looks like nvidia have released a newer driver version today than the one you are using. It could be worth trying that, or rolling back to an older version if the game used to work prior to 1.1.1.

That will almost certainly be an nVidia driver or hardware fault I'm afraid.

- uninstall the existing nVidia driver and al other nVidia software
- reboot
- install the new one mentioned above https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

Good luck!
