Waste of time/resources. Animations take a lot of work and ultimately customization would have to be sacrificed for this to be done right. Which no actual fan of CK games want.

Dueling child portraits plz. I wanna see little Capet slaughter Willaim the Bastard with his bare hands.

I think animations like this would be almost necessary if they're going the 3d animation route. It would be really awkward if they just kinda stand there during every event. Instead of the art, we get them acting out stuff. If they're drinking, put a mug in their hand. If they're on a precarious balcony, show the character standing by a balcony rail. In battle, do a little sword play.

They don't need to be complicated, but a few seconds animation based on the event would be nice .

My concern with this is that it would be a large resource investment, with limited rewards.

How many event pop-ups do you not even read, just click an option you've memorised because you've seen it a hundred times before in CK2? (The answer is quite a lot)
If they did this, it would probably need to be incredibly barebones, and skippable as well.

I get everyone's concern with the work vs reward. I'm not an artist, so I don't know the time investment required to build these animations. I was thinking that it would be less work overall though because they no longer need to do the art for each event type like they did before. The Crusader Kings 2 has 375 beautiful handmade event pictures. I would imagine that the use of pre-made character models, environments, and animations would make these scene's development more streamlined.

I want text-based duels to be much more complex and enjoyable, but I still want them to remain text-based rather than animated.
