I haven't tried this before the Danish bug fix application, but the initial spouse has her picture darkened, but is apparently undead. Only when I did the Die cheat was it fixed.

Well there are bugs reported regarding undead people, so unless you feel you have discovered an entirely new kind of undeads, its probably already covered by those.
