Set to realm religion event command doesn't work

All education-finishing events have this command, which supposedly sets a character's religion to be the same as the realm's:

effect = { type = set_to_realm_religion }

However, having finished the education of numerous Muslim and pagan children, not one of them converted to my realm's religion. The command doesn't work, apparently.

Yes, I just posted a thread on the same issue. Ecclesial education won't convert Pagan courtiers.
