With just copy and paste, adding this text shouldn't have any influence on your BOPACK events (if you do it with Wordpad)

Make sure that these two lines are the last two lines in modtext.csv

Code:
#EOF;;;;;;;;;;;X
#EOF;;;;;;;;;X

Thanks.
Cause of problem: I opened it in Exel...

As of the second Deus Vult 2.1 beta patch the root symptom this event tried to fix is gone, so now it just makes the game a little more difficult. I'm keeping it in my own game, but decide for yourself if you want it or not.

That will help you keep your duke vassals. For the North Africa regions, you must have one of the following king tags: MAUR, TUNI, EGYP, ARAB. NAPL. NUBI
Alternatively your capital must be in the same region.
For counts, you must have your capital there. It is therefore wise to create duke titles and give them to local rulers.

This by itself is not enough for vassals to break free, as two of the following must be valid: wrong region, wrong culture, wrong religion, different government, rivalry

So even if you do not own any king title there they should remain happy with you as long as the other factors are not in play.

Changes in last update:
-Liege may no longer be at war
-Made ruling over Ireland possible from Wales or Scotland
-Scots now like Gaelic ("irish") rulers, and vice versa
-Greeks and Bulgars/Vlachs don't like eachother any longer
-Nubia should now be able to rule over Arabia

You could add Irish and Scottish rulers accepting Norwegian masters, and Norwegians accepting Irish and Scottish masters. I'm thinking of Orkney, WEIS, Dublin here.

Does the provision for "primary heirs" being less likely to break away include the most powerful vassals in an elective system? It seems that it should, since there wouldn't be much sense in a vassal breaking away who has a good shot at inheriting the kingdom if he stays.

I looked at the event file yesterday and I must say this is one hell of an event!! Did you type all of that by hand any by paste-copy, or do you have a script program to generate those 1000s of code lines every time you revise the event??

BTW if ever an update of the break free system is planned, you might want to redraw parts of the regions map. Some of them are a bit whacky (rhine, rhone, mesopotamia, Donau, crna_gora) and while it is generally a decent map it could be improved.

I uploaded a map of the regions here:

Everything had to be typed or copied, but I had a start with the area checks by Byakhiam -- although I easily had to add more than half of these.
The event basically has four checks which are all copied multiple times, so once I had one working I could just copy it to the other sections.

I've copied your map, should come in handy! It is very hard to tell where the areas and regions exactly are from the file, but with this map I ought to be able to find the neighbouring provinces at last.

I have a Mac. Does this mod make the game less stable? I installed in recently, and although I haven't had a lot of time to play, my session did end in a crash after 10-20 minutes.

Note that I was resuming a game I had started un-modded. I copied the whole directly, installed the mod, then resumed my savegame.

Well, there isn't a "Mac version," AFAIK. I just downloaded the zip and installed manually, like I always do with Paradox mods. Since it's only really modifying the events file, I didn't think there would be any problems, but...
