DV: Can't relieve sieged provinces of heathen allies

As the King of Georgia, I allied with the Sheikdom of Shemakha (sp?), a rebellious vassal of my neighbour, the Emirate of Derbent. Once the vassal rebelled, I joined the fight, and was surprised to discover that I couldn't move my troops into the province of my ally in order to drive away the enemy army besieging it. This caused the province to fall into enemy hands.

I think that's because your ally was a muslim. In DV it seems that you can't cross neutral muslim's land, and must be at war to do so.

Allied isn't the same as neutral.

Or at least it shouldn't be.
