I have a desktop with CK/DV that works fine. I recently bought a new computer and tried to load it up on this, but I have had trouble.

The new computer is a Macintosh MacBook. I partitioned the hard drive and installed Windows XP on the partition. I installed my CD-borne copy of CK v1.04, then downloaded DV from Gamersgate and installed it. So far, so good. I then ran the game...

The opening screens come up fine. I click on Single Player, choose a duchy to play, and click start. For a brief, fleeting moment, the "loading" screen appears. And then, the game just closes. Like a CTD, except that I don't even get the normal "Do you want to tell Microsoft about the problem" pop-up. And it always happens at the exact same time -- right after it starts loading up.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Jeez. I remember the forum being a little more responsive than this.

FWIW, I uninstalled both CK and DV, then bought CK from Gamers Gate (since I don't have the disc available), downloaded all ~150MB, and reinstalled it on my computer. Did the same with DV, putting all files in the same folder that CK was in (at least one file totally replaced its counterpart from CK). Started up the game, but no luck -- it still "crashed" at the same point, right when it is starts to "initialize provinces."

Roger -- the only difference is that I do not have the DV beta patch.

And, the fact that it is a MacBook shouldn't mke a difference -- like I said, I have partitioned the hard drive and am running it on Windows XP. It is the exact same program that everyone else uses. Furthermore, I have loaded up HoI2: DD (Windows version again, not Mac) the exact same way, and that program runs just fine.

I'm happy to see this thread get some attention and all, but I would really like help with my problem. I have a narrow window of opportunity to access this forum and once that window closes I will be stuck with my inoperable game of CK-DV for several months... help!

The copy option works with nearly all of Paradox's games....
