I also have a thread in the technical forum.

I tought i found out the problem, as i was changing the resolution types in the config file, but i couldnt reproduce my succes. I acutally got in once without a crash, it just looked horrible so i quit again. I tried 6x different resolutions, but they all result in a instant crash when i press start game. I have installed 2.1 beta patch.

also reinstalled my nvidia drivers for 8800gtx (vista buiness sp1)

is that from todays betapatch? logs look really weird for that.
 
It is, i just applied the patch again to be certain, i take these from the exceptions.log, i can gernerate as many as i want of these, as i get fatal error everytime i press start!

Only got it in 1125, whereas I couldn't play more than twenty years before the latest patch, so there's definately an improvement. :)
I had yearly autosave on, so I will try and see if I can reproduce it tonight, and then send a savegame.

I hope that my feedback is taken into account even though I haven't registered the game. I have absolutely no problem with doing that and I can easily provide my serial key or my order number at Gamersgate to any forum staff member who would request it.
My problem lies with the, IMMHO, ugly little icon that would mar my avatar.
Any way to register the game, and having the icon not showing?



EDIT: Now ten years more into the game, and it wouldn't crash again.

I was viewing a character, when I accidentally hit the space bar instead of the break key to pause the game.

I have the same problem with fatal error, but how do you fix it? I don't feel Ck is worth to play when it crashes so much, where shall i put these two files from the beta patch download: Crusaders.pdb dbghelp.dll?

Put the dv-patch rar-file in your main Crusader kings folder and then right+click on the .rar-file and then select the option 'extract here'. That way every file will be put in its right place

Download the beta-patch from here

Put this patch, which is a .rar-file, into your main Crusader kings folder, which probably is

C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings

Then right-click on the file, you then get a list of options.

Select the option 'extract here'

Now the beta-patch will be installed

And you are done

I bought Deus Vult -- great job on it, by the way -- & installed the 10 April beta. Playing the 1066 scenario until about 1180 or so, I obtained these two crashes in quick succession, the second time reloading the game from the previous save:

Got it in the middle of 1067, shortly before my ships would have reached Pechenegs' coastal province. The video is ATI Radeon X850PRO. What could be wrong?

I got this after newly installing CK + DV and installing a mod (Alternative Setup), now I see this thread I thought it could be caused by the game itself which I assumed was stable:
