Dynamic colonies

I would like to see dynamic colonies or a reduction in territory size in the new world. Right now the new world territories are too large take the manhattan province for example, the dutch owned manhattan isle and north new jersey while the swedes owned southern jersey and delaware and part of maryland. with the dutch owning some cities in delaware.

colonies should be founded as a single city and then as population is increased (and through treaties) the borders should expand through influence.

Certain nations (sweden for example) should get bonuses for colonies with native populations since they had experience dealing with natives in their home territories. This was reflected in that the swedes in south jersey had no problems with the leni lanape until the colony was turned over to the dutch who then immediately turned it over to the english.

It would also be nice to raise money by selling colonial territory.

Well, although this sounds good, it would make the game a funny feel, for this would have to be done in every single non european nation. Also, how many cities should be able to be built in every province and by how many nations?

No, i think this is overcomplicating something that already works brilliantly. Its supposed to be historically accurate, not historically precise.

The dynamic idea is probably very hard to use i admit that, using it there are not province borders existing when you first get to the new world. Instead you have a free moving border created by you sphere of influence.

however i think that smaller territories is called for and the possibility to purchase or sell territory.

I don't think that the native americans should have national territories just the extreme desire to be independent. They should be able to sell their territory to a friendly nation (as they often did). They got took but they did not believe that they owned the land.

The leni-lanapi sold the same land in south jersey to three different nations causing tense colonial relations between the swedes and the dutch and eventually the dutch and english.
