Reinstalling seems a bit overkill to me. I thought a solution was already found to this bug in the thread...anyway I'll try to fix it.

As for the infra? is anybody already working on it?

Right you are, Fürtsbischof! I stand corrected. The dutch name reminds me of something, though... Wasn't the Zuidersee the scene of an important and "odd" battle, between British naval forces and Germany, during the Great War?

I've several books concerning WWI on my reading list so that I can't tell which naval battle might have happened there. The most 'popular' naval engagements between the Grand Fleet and the Hochseeflotte have been Helgoland, Doggerbank and Jutland. But I'd be surprised if a naval battle actually happened in the Zuiderzee simply because the Netherlands have been neutral in WWI and such a battle would have violated their neutrality.

Fürstbischof what's the status on infra? I could take the task of fixing it if nobody is already on it.

Actually Jounk35 is editing the province.csv file and hopefully finishing terrain and climate besides areas/regions. (america, africa and autralia have to be checked) I say hopefully because I've lost contact to him in mid September so that I don't actually know if he's continuing his job. If you scroll through this thread you can find several messages directed towards him, e.g. 208.

Yes, we can easily fix infra and I would be glad if I could concentrate on the overhaul of the scenario files. If you want to fix all infra provinces I can give you my most recent province.csv file. After fixing infra you can pm me a link to the fixed file. Interested?

What? I 'm merely speaking about correcting world's infra distribution, fixing 100% infra provinces in China and that kind of things.

Those 100% infra are indeed irritating but served the good purpose that you could see which provinces have actually been moved. Since terrain & climate of China is already done I think we can do without them. :)

If you use jsgme reinstalling might be unnecessary because you can simply switch the latest patch and the E3 mod files back and forth and then try again. By the way, have you downloaded the most recent set of files? There have been several 'unknown string wanted' type bugs which went away with the last map fix. Such a major bug hasn't been mentioned before here in this forum. Since only very few game files are actually modified by AOD/E3 your bug might have another cause.

:rolleyes:Indeed... can this be modded, or at least mitigated, by us players...??

If Jounk35 is finally gone/lost we'll have to find a new way of fixing the province.csv file. I can imagine giving the most recent version of my e.g. province.csv file to anyone who is willing to do some major/minor fixing and then taking it back so that the next volunteer can use this updated file as the base for his fixes and so on. This might also the only way to do some major fixing similar to those envisioned by kilolima who iirc wanted to mod the Transsiberian Railway into the game.

I could try that, yes.

Oh, THAT infra!! I thought you meant the AI infra sorting bug... Oh, I've already dealt with that 100 infra in Asia, I believe.
There is a post somewhere in this thread, and I've just adjusted to what the poster states, based upon his observations.

Ok. I wasn't aware of that(neither the poster you're speaking about, actually). Well done! ;)

Now, if you could find a user-made hotfix to the AI infra sorting priorities, that would be grand!! Here's my db\province file with those Asian 100 infra corrected. Please note, however, that my version has certain other personal modifications to my liking (i.e., several port locations modified, some areas in Spain and Britain slightly modified, New Zealand is now an independent region from Australia, etc. View attachment Province.rar

Edit: Well, in order to be more complete, I'll add my modified config\world_names file that correspond to the above-referenced db\province file (Warning! this is modified to work in the game version I have, you may encounter no_string_problems): View attachment world_names.rar.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, in my modified world_names file, only the "newly-created" region of New Zealand has been introduced, by employing one of the "unused" regions in the E3 Map: the game default region of Diego Garcia Island is now the "new region" of New Zealand (while retaining the game default "area" of New Zealand as well).

hi,

just downloaded this and this seems to be very promising. just a few things:

are you able to upgrade infra to 200 if you start with a value like 63? - or will you end up with 193?

according to this website there hould be some oil in Ocha / Sakhalin. maybe others as well

as for the question sturmvogel.orbat.com:

The big question is why did the production of Baku decrease by nearly 50% by 1945 since it was never bombed by the Germans. Is this a result of a failure to repair or replace essential equipment in the oil fields as well as a failure to drill new wells when existing ones ran dry? Or perhaps something as simple as a labor shortage?

i remember that i read that the russians disabled the fields when the front came closer in the early 40s.

as for the estonian numbers i think thats shale oil:

hope you can use this somehow?

I did a quick test: you can't build more infra if the last step will go beyond 200. 190 is ok while 191 won't allow you to build more infra. :(

There was some oil, too. And it should definitely be in the game. :)

The soviets thoroughly destroyed/disabled the oil fields of Maikop when they retreated. They might have had similar plans for Grozny or Baku but these should have never been realised.

Especially interesting is the production of oil shale in Manchuria by the Japanese which isn't represented in the game. Atm the province of Fushun which was a center of resource production is devoid of resources.

Maybe oil was not needed anymore because they got refined oil from lend-lease?

i dont think there was much oil coming with LL to russia, the USA sent more trucks, jeeps and locomotives. theres a table from 1982 in the german wiki article:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leih-_und_Pachtgesetz#cite_note-0
the sentence right above the table provides a few numbers

think you can understand this even without speaking german, but its only referring to numbers in USD. as for resources that should have been brazilian rubber http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_Rubber (just in case you will add events:))

damn, do you intend to change the values for infra?

infra in vanilla AOD and AOD/E3 isn't historically accurate. Neither are IC & resources. In that sense the fixing of infra levels in some (many?) provinces is certainly necessary. If I have to do that by myself you won't see any changes this year...;)

EDIT: Fixing infra might be important for many players since those 100% infra provinces are easily spotted by tbh it should take the backseat compared to the task of fixing IC & resources.

re: Plan Rubber

I took the time to read this article about a planned and aborted invasion of Brazil by the USA. It was very interesting and gave me some valuable hints how I could place the brazilean airbases and ports. Some beaches are also gone now. Many thanks, bestmajor! :)

ok loaded up the map once more (dont have time to play currently):

some things:

- Petsmao was famous for its nickel (and i think the original map has this done roughly right)
- there should be oil in Vienna (like in Vanilla maybe) http://www.wabweb.net/history/oel/oesterreich.htm
- Bavaria seems to be overpowered to me, even if its strong today, i doubt there was a lot outside munich (at least if you compare it to Silesia/Breslau - Essen Ruhr Area)
- South of Albania vs north of greece: Italians had a lot of trouble with supplying their units down there and that was part of the reason why they lost
- northern greece: Metaxas Line is missing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaxas_Line
- Brest-Litowsk: maybe a lvl 1 fort there? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brest_Fortress#History
- a few islands like portuguese Funchal should at least have a mini port?
- some BRA jungle areas have maybe to much infra?
- there was a Leningrad-Murmansk railway which was aim the the german finnish operations in the far north. maybe this one could be simulated by an infra increase?
- MP comparison Paris - Berlin doesnt match
- Manchuria needs far more MP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Manchukuo#Important_Cities (and maybe some resources as well, but i have no idea how you calculated this?)
- Mengkukuo/Mengjiang had Steel and coal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mengkukuo#Economy
- Caracas (VEN) has no IC
- Paraguay i think the capital should have the IC point, infra and MP
- Japan/Taiwan: maybe a drop of oil in Taiwan? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_mining_and_energy_resources_(World_War_II)#Oil_sources
- Al Manamah / Bahrain: a drop (?) of oil: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Oil_Well,_Bahrain http://www.geohelp.net/world.html

Petsamo has atm 2 rares which could be expanded. Vienna's oil will be added. ;) The hungarian oil is also missing. :(

Especially Essen and the Ruhr are misrepresented in the game. This should be remedied when GER is checked for historical plausibility.

We could influence ESE by reducing infra drastically.

- northern greece: Metaxas Line is missing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaxas_Line
both provinces have already level 5 land fortresses - do you have downloaded the most recent set of files from page 1?

- Brest-Litowsk: maybe a lvl 1 fort there? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brest_Fortress#History
Province has already level 1 land fortress. I've read Guderian, too. ;)

- a few islands like portuguese Funchal should at least have a mini port?
We missed that one - will be added. ;)

- some BRA jungle areas have maybe to much infra?
BRA (& south america) have to be done...

- there was a Leningrad-Murmansk railway which was aim the the german finnish operations in the far north. maybe this one could be simulated by an infra increase?
If compared to Kola or the other tundra & taiga provinces in the northern USSR there should be significant difference between their infra levels.

- MP comparison Paris - Berlin doesnt match
It'd cool to have accurate pop (and MP) levels for all nations ... :)

- Manchuria needs far more MP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Manchukuo#Important_Cities (and maybe some resources as well, but i have no idea how you calculated this?)
MAN is atm untouched (aside from areas, terrain & climate).

- Mengkukuo/Mengjiang had Steel and coal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mengkukuo#Economy
MEN is atm untouched (aside from areas, terrain & climate), too.

- Caracas (VEN) has no IC
VEN (& south america) have to be done...
Caracas might be the victim of the re-usage of its province id.

- Paraguay i think the capital should have the IC point, infra and MP
PAR (& south america) have to be done...
But I should have moved the VP to their capital. :(

The japanese scenario file and its bases got a major overhaul and several ports have also been moved but their IC & resources have to be done.

The province got already a naval base but oil would be a plausible addition. ;)

Many thanks, bestmajor, for your helpful hints! :)
